Two out of 3 ain't good - when the 2 are losses. Vegas has won 18 of 20, friends.
Minor League Player of The Night - Eric Campbell, with a 3 for 4 night to raise his AAA stats to .457/.590/.848.
Too bad he could not have hit more with the Mets during his stay. Maybe he or Ceciliani get called up to replace Whiff Nieuwenhuis. Today would be nice.
Honorable Mention - Gabe Ynoa tosses a masterful game in a no- decision. Darin Gorski nearly as good for Vegas.
AAA - Las Vegas (24-10) 5 - Sacramento (17-17) 1
RHSP Darin Gorski - 6.0-IP, 4-H, 1-R, 5-K, 2-BB, 5.63
RHRP John Church - 1.2-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 2-K, 1-BB, 3.54
Mack - This is the first mention of Church this season. The 28-year old basically has had only one bad outing this season, where he gave up three runs on 4-23. Church is still looking for his first call-up.
1B-LF Eric Campbell - 3-4, 2-R, 1-HR (4), 1-RBI, .457
AA - Richmond (11-19) 2 - Binghamton (19-14) 1
RHSP Gabriel Ynoa - 7.0-IP, 3-H, 1-R, 4-K, 2-BB, 3.72
2B TJ Rivera - 3-4, .325
RF Brandon Nimmo - 2-4, .297
Brandon and TJ hit, but another powerless Met farm outing with a lack of clutch hitting (especially from Jayce Boyd, who left 8 runners on base). Gabe Ynoa found out how Matt Harvey felt last night, tossing a tterrific game, but getting no offensive support.
Matt Koch continues to be very hittable (303 hits in 256 career innings), pitching a scoreless 9th but losing it without securing an out in the 10th. His pitching line was 1 run, 1.0 innings, 5 hits.
A+ - Tampa (18-15) 6 - St. Lucie (14-19) 4
RHSP Marcos Molina - 5.2-IP, 11-H, 6-R, 4-K, 1-BB, 4.41
RHRP Julian Hilario - 1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 1-K, 1-BB, 1.69
1B Dominic Smith - 2-3, 1-R, double, 1-RBI, .205
Molina gets uncharacteristically rocked in this outing. Let's see what he cooks up for his next start to bounce back.
Dom Smith is bouncing back, but as a 1B, and when I think of Kris Bryant's 55 homers in 174 minor league games, I'd sure like to see Smith start to pop at least a few. 1 for Smitty in a year and a quarter, while Bryant finds it hard not to hit one in a game and a quarter. A stark contrast, one might say. The Mets usually have the lower-powered of any 2 players you might wish to compare.
A - Savannah - no games scheduled
GOATS: I'll go with Jayce Boyd for lack of clutch, and Marcos Molina, who hopefully has seen his first and last "goat" ranking.
I'd recall Campbell for Mayberry, and Ceciliani for Kirk. Castellanos to replace Recker. Those 3 bums are 9 for 80. SHAKE THIS THING UP, SANDY...BRING UP HITTERS. THE 3 I SUGGEST COULD GO 18 FOR 80. Last time I checked, that may not be good - but it is twice as good.
