5/20/15
Mets Minor League Games - 5-19-15
2 shutouts, a nailbiter, and an umbrella.
Minor League Player of The Night - Duane Below
Duane who? Please see Below.
Honorable Mention - Gavin Cecchini and Travis Taijeron, both of whom had 2 hits including a round tripper last night.
AAA - Las Vegas (26-14) 2 - Tacoma (17-23) 0
LHSP Duane Below - 9.0-IP, CG, 4-H, 0-R, 2-K, 1-BB, 2.51
LF-1B Alex Castellanos - 1-4, double, 1-RBI, .299
SS Matt Reynolds - 1-4, double, .290
RF Travis Taijeron - 2-3, HR (7), RBI, .346
Duane Below, who has over 70 major league innings in his dossier of work, was masterful, taking a low pitch 2 hit shutout into the 9th. Despite 2 hits that inning, he persisted for the rare 9 inning shutout. Best lefty starter in Vegas not named Matz. BTW, Tacoma is roughly at sea level, and it was a low scoring few games there so far for the 51s. Altitude does help the hitters.
AA - Binghamton (22-16) 7 - Harrisburg (15-22) 6
RHSP Rainy Lara - 2.0-IP, 6-H, 4-R, 1-K, 0-BB, 3.41
SS Gavin Cecchini - 2-5, 2-R, double, HR (3), 2-RBI, .292
LF Jayce Boyd - 2-4, 1-R, double, .305
Bingo rallied for 4 in the latter innings. Save #6 for Paul Sewald, who surrendered an unearned 9th inning run to make their fans sweat. Better than losing 10-2, though! Boyd still looking for his first dinger, but is racking up doubles.
A+ - Palm Beach (20-19) 3 - St. Lucie (17-22) 0
RHSP Miller Diaz - 5.1-IP, 8-H, 2-R, 5-K, 3-BB, 3.06
LF Michael Conforto - 2-5, . 285
Dominic Smith also doubled on a quiet offensive night by the Lucindas. Kyle Regnault struck out 4 in 1.2 innings of relief.
A - Savannah - game delayed due to rain
RHSP Corey Owalt - tossed 4 innings of shutout ball, surrendering 5 hits and striking out 4 without a walk. Oswalt has been solid but is surrendering more than a hit per inning this season.
GOATS: ST. LUCIE OFFENSE. AND SAVANNAH RAIN DROPS.
Sorry folks....
ReplyDeleteI'm off to a late start today. Major accident had me stuck on the highway during the drive in this morning.
Putting together the Morning Report now.
