Two wins, two losses, and a ton of Lucie offense.
Minor League Player of The Night - Jeff McNeil, with a double, HR, and 2 singles to pace St Lucie. Don't misunderestimate this guy, President Bush warned.
Honorable Mention - Michael Conforto and Gavin Cecchini both hit like first rounders should. Fellow firstie Dom Smith did well too.
AAA - Las Vegas - (27-16) 4- OKC (28-13) 6
RHSP Matt Bowman - six runs surrendered (4 earned) in another sub-par Bowman outing. A four run 7th was his undoing, but in fairness, 2 runs came in after he left the game. And like most Vegas starters, he got a hit.
Three hits for T J Rivera, 2 run shot from Brandon Allen, Matt Reynolds only 7 for 41 in his last 10 games, and Travis had a Taijeron Special (1-4, 3 Ks).
AA - Binghamton (24-18) 5 - Akron (18-24) 4
RHSP John Gant - 3.2-IP, 6-H, 4-R, 1-K, 4-BB, 4.75
SS Gavin Cecchini - 3-5, 1-R, double, 1-HR (4), 2-RBI, .303
RHRP Vic Black - 1.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 2-K, 0-BB, 0.00
Binghamton rallied from 4-1 down, adding a run in the 8th and 2 in the ninth for the final margin. Gavin Cecchini continues to impress with the stick. Gil Gomez also on 3 times, with a homer thrown in.
Vic Black, Hutchingon, and Wheeler struck out 10 in 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Yay, Vic.
A+ - St. Lucie (20-23) 14 - Dunedin (19-24) 2
RHSP Kevin McGowan - 5.0-IP, 5-H, 2-R, 5-K, 3-BB, 5.11
3B Jeff McNeil - 4-6, 4-R, 1-HR (1), 1-RBI, .338
LF Michael Conforto - 3-5, 2-R, double, 3-RBI, .298
The Michael and Jeff Show. Lusty hitting from the two hombres.
But besides them, SIX other St Lucie hitters had 2 hits apiece in a 19 hit bludgeoning. Dom Smith has 2 RBIs and C Colton Plaia had 4. Whoo-whee.
Akeel Morris tossed (what else) a hitless inning in relief. The movie is coming out, Hitless in St Lucie.
A - Rome (18-24) 9 - Savannah (19-23) 5
RHSP Martires Arias - 3.1-IP, 2-H, 4-R, 3-K, 4-BB, 3.51
RF Wuilmer Buccera - 2-5, 1-R, 1-HR (5), 1-RBI, .259
SS Luis Guillorme - 2-4, 1-R, .324
Arias had an off starting night, made much worse by the Gnat pen. Wuilmer Becerra continues to show you can in fact hit homers as a member of the Gnats, and Luis G continues his singles assault.
Three errors, bad pitching, a loss.
GOAT: Savannah relief pitching fueled the Gnats' loss.
Jeff mcneil hitting .400 in his last 28 games. And he plays 3B.
