Per ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, The Mets have Designated RHSP Dillon Gee for Assignment. This move removes Gee from the Active and 40 man rosters. Mets must now trade Gee, option him to the minors, or release him within the next 10 days.
Since Gee was DFA'd, he does have rights to refuse an Outright Assignment to the minor leagues, however, doing so requires him to forfeit the remainder of his 2015 salary.
Pelfrey needs company in Minny. Wonder if Yanks would be interested?
ReplyDeleteNice, decisive move by the front office. No room for him in the clubhouse or on the field, especially with his poor attitude.
ReplyDeleteAsked this question in the other DG thread:
ReplyDeleteHe can be outrighted (vs "optioned") to the minors (with MLB salary) only after clearing irrevocable waivers, right?
As I understand it the order of events is DFA -- TRADE -- if no, WAIVE -- if clears, RELEASE or OUTRIGHT
