Saturday night at Turner field the Mets mental and fielding
errors continue to be an issue. The Mets lose their 4th straight
6-4. Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and the was provided a quick 2 run
lead in the top of the first inning when Travis d’Arnaud singled home Curtis
Granderson and Ruben Tejada and it was
2-0. In the bottom of the 2nd
A.J. Pierzynski tripled to right and scored on a RBI single by Andrelton
Simmons and it was 2-1. The Braves tied
it when Jace Peterson walked and went to third when he attempted to steal and neither
Tejada nor Dilson Herrera covered the bag and Peterson advanced when d’Arnaud’s throw went into center-field
(an undeserved throwing error for d’Arnaud.) Peterson then scored on Cameron Maybin’s ground
out. In the 4th the Braves
scored twice more. Eury Perez drove home Pierzynski with an infield hit.
Peterson sac-fly scored Simmons and it was 4-2. The Mets climbed back into it.
In the 5th Granderson hit a solo homer off Braves starter Williams
Perez to make it 4-3. Travis d’Arnaud
homered in the 6th to tie the game at 4. For Granderson his 9th on the year
for d’Arnaud his 4th. In the
6th more mental errors cost the Mets. Pedro Ciriaco hit a sac-fly…while scoring d’Arnaud
hyper-extended his elbow trying to make a tag and left the game. Then with the bases loaded and 1 out, Maybin
grounded to third and Eric Campbell didn’t throw home allowing Simmons to score
with the Braves 6th run.
Syndergaard lasted 4 innings
allowing 6 hits 4 runs (3 earned) walking 2 and striking out 3. Jack Leathersich and Logan Verrett gave up
solo runs in the 5th and 6th. Leathersich takes the loss falling to 0-1. Perez gets the win for the Braves; he’s now
4-0. Travis d’Arnaud led the Mets going 2 for 3 with the homer and 3 RBI.
Granderson went 2 for 4 with the homer and 2 runs scored. Pierzynski went 3 for 4, Simmons went 4 for 4 for the Braves. With the loss the Mets
fall to 36-34 and are now 10-23 on the road.
With the Nats win on Saturday the Mets now drop to ½ behind Washington
in 2nd place in the NL east.
Sunday the Mets look to salvage the final gave of this series. It’s a 5 pm EST start. Matt Harvey (7-4 3.32) looks to stop the bleeding for the
Mets, Julio Teheran (4-3 5.07) goes for
Atlanta.
We may or may not have seen the last of the Mets officially as a first place team...............
ReplyDeleteFuck it I don't feel like being negative. I feel like enjoying father's day tomorrow.
Happy father's day to all the daddies.
It was a tough loss for the Mets as they battle to stay above .500.
