June 23, 2015 -- Brewers 3, Mets 2

Tuesday night in Milwaukee, the Met defense continues to be a liability as Michael Cuddyer committed an error on a double by Adam Lind which allowed Carlos Gomez to score the go ahead run. The Brewers beat the Mets 3-2. Jonathon Niese and pitched very well again for the 2^nd straight outing.  The Brewers took a 1-0 in the bottom of the first when Lind’s RBI single scored Ryan Braun. The Mets tied the game in the top of the third when Curtis Granderson launched a long homer off Mike Fiers into the upper deck in right field, for Granderson his 10^th on the year.  The Mets took a 2-1 lead in the 4^th when Kevin Plawecki’s sac-fly scored Wilmer Flores.  In the 6^th Niese yielded a sac-fly to Jean Segura scoring Geraldo Parra and the game was tied.  In the 7^th, with Gomez on 1^st, Sean Gilmartin allowed the opposite field double that eluded Cuddyer and brought Gomez home from first with the game winner.  Niese gets the no decision going 6 allowing 8 hits 2 runs (both earned) walking 3 and striking out 3. Gomez’ run in the 7^th belonged to Hansel Robles he takes the loss falling to 1-2.  Lefty Will Smith gets the win for Milwaukee he’s now 3-0.  Former Met Francisco Rodriguez notched his 14th save. The Met offense is still in neutral only producing 4 hits on the day, 3 singles and Granderson’s homer.  With their 6th straight loss the Mets fall to .500 at 36-36 and are a dismal 10-25 on the road.  The Nats play the Braves on Tuesday.  A Nat win drops the Mets to 2 ½ games behind in the East, a Nat Loss and the Mets drop ½ into third place behind the Braves. Wednesday night its game two of the three game set.  Bartolo Colon (9-5 4.81) looks for win #10. Jimmy Nelson (3-8 4.64) goes for Milwaukee.
