6/23/15

Mets Minor League Games - 6-22-15

Brooklyn and Binghamton up, St Lucie down,  Vegas and Savannah catch some R&R.

Minor League Player of The Night - Tucker Tharp

Honorable Mention - Michael Bernal, Matt Blackham, Christian Montgomery, Merandy Gonzalez (Gulf Coast)

Law Vegas - not scheduled.

Binghamton (36-32) 5 - New Hampshire (31-37) 2

    RHSP Gabe Ynoa 6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 K, 4.99

    OF Brock Peterson 3-5, 2 doubles, 3 RBI,.370

     LF Michael Conforto  -  2-5, 1-R, double, .378

Ynoa goes 6.2 innings but strikes none in 6.1 innings, while Alvarez and Sewald K 5 in 2.2 innings.

Gabe is hard to figure, averaging just 4 Ks per 9.  Not sure how that works in AAA or the bigs.

Conforto continues to mash.

31 year old Peterson now has 19 RBIs in 14 games for B Mets.

A+ - Jupiter (34-34) 4  -  St. Lucie (34-34) 1

    RHSP Kevin McGowan -  4.0-IP, 7-H, 3-R, 3-K, 3-BB, 4.27

    1B Dominic Smith  2-3, .301

Smitty cracks the .300 plateau after sitting at .143 on May 8 - laudable.  Remarkable.

Even more remarkable is who it was against - Jose Fernandez, who threw 7 dominating innings in his fourth rehab start.

A - Savannah -  no game scheduled

Low-A  -  Brooklyn - (3-1) 14 - Tri City (2-2) 0

    RHSP Matt Blackham  -  7.0-IP, 3-H, 0-R, 7-K, 1-BB, 0.00

    RHRP Christian Montgomery  -  1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 3-K, 0-BB, 0.00

The Cyclones scored 2 TDs and converted both point afters. 14 zip.  Suh-weet.

CF Tucker Tharp has a superlative lead off nite, going 4-4, a walk, and FIVE runs scored, settling in at .545 so far for the Cyclones.

Bernal  gives us 2-2, HR, and 4 Ribbies, hitting .400 early on.

Blackham was great in his first start of 2015.  Now 3-0, 1.04 in his career that began as a reliever in Kingsport in 2014.

Montgomery throws down the gauntlet, striking out the side in the 8th, a statement that he intends 2015 to be his breakout year. The hard thrower has struggled with various things, including terrible control, in past years, having allowed 48 runs in just 48 career innings spanning 3 seasons before yesterday.  But it is not what you've not done in the past, it is what can you do for us now.  Looks ready.

Rookie -  Kingsport -   no game scheduled

Rookie -  GCL Marlins (1-0) 2  -  GCL Mets (0-1) 1

    RHSP Jeff Walters  -  1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 0-K, 0-BB, 0.00

    RHRP Merandy Gonzalez  -  5.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 6-K, 0-BB, 0.00

    RF Kenneth Bautista  -  1-4, .250

The Mets had 7 perfect innings, but a 2 run shot in the 8th cost them the win. Just 4 hits and 16 Ks by G Met hitters.

A strong rehab one inning outing by Walters.

Rookie - DSL Mets 1 (10-10) 2 - Rockies (9-11) 7

   SP Luis Mateo 4 IP,3 R, 3H, 2 W,2 K, 5.40

   RF Wagner Lagrange - 3-5, 1 RBI, .324

Rookie - DSL Mets-2 (14-6)  6 - DSL Cubs (12-8) 5

    LHSP Aneury Olivo  -  4.0-IP, 3-H, 4-R, 7-K, 1-BB, 1.59

    RF Grabiel Jimenez  -  3-4, 1-R, double, 1-RBI, .319

    LF Luis Montero  -  3-5, 1-RBI, .250

Impressive season start for the DSL 2 squad.

  1. Ynoa has 31 Ks in 70.1 innings, to be precise. That does not scream "prospect" to me.
