Mets Minor League Games - 6-25-15
Several close, low scoring losses, but Las Vegas did enough scoring for everybody, with 24 runs. The other 8 Met farm teams scored 25.
Minor League Players of The Night - Nieuwenhuis, Allen, Taijeron, and Recker were all part of a Vegas hitting explosion.
Honorable Mention - Robert Gsellman, let's get a pitcher in there. But let's add Kport catcher Darryl Knight, with 2 bombs.
AAA - Las Vegas - (42-32) TWENTY FOUR - Salt Lake (29-45) 8
RHSP Dillon Gee - 5 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 10.80, 1-0
Gee was cruising with a 10-0 early lead until a 2 homer, 6 run 4th inning. But just like in Queens, 6 runs allowed means an easy victory for the starter, right?
Must have been Meatball Night in Salt Lake City, as the Bees just stirred up the Vegas bumblebee hive with those 6 runs. Vegas added 10 more runs to finish with 20 runs and 24 hits.
Brooks Conrad batted 5th and still had 7 official at bats (3H)!
Kirk Nieuwenhuis blasted 2 homers, had 2 walks, and 5 RBIs, and is hitting a Ted Williams-like .406. Taijeron also had 5 ribs with 2 hits, including a homer and a walk.
Brandon Allen? 5 hits and a walk. Recker? 3 for 5 and a walk, with 4 RBIs, up to .222. Danny Muno had 3 hits and a walk, and sits at .315. Castellanos also has 3 hits and 2 RBIs.
Those 7 had 21 hits. The other 2 guys still had 3 more. That's 24....like the show.
Question: can the Salt Lake Bees' pitchers come and pitch against the Mets at Citifield this weekend, please? The Bees have a team ERA of 5.65. Their bullpen is built like a bomb shelter, in case you haven't noticed, nice advance planning.
Kirk is making his case. He is .406/.457/1.000 in 8 games, with 5 homers and 13 RBI.
AA - Binghamton - (37-34) 1 - Harrisburg (32-41) 2
RHSP Robert Gsellman - 6.0-IP, 6-H, 2-R, 5-K, 3-BB, 4.34
Mack - FYI... Michael Fulmer hit 99 multiple times last night, has 17-Ks in his last 17.1-IP and had a 14.2% swinging strike rate
Gsellman pitched well after a 2 run first, but not enough offense to get it done. Conforto singled and Nimmo followed with a hit in the 8th, but Conforto was cut down at the plate to thwart their chance to tie.
A+ - St. Lucie - (35-36) 3 - Bradenton (33-38) 4
RHSP Miller Diaz - 6.2-IP, 9-H, 4-R, 4-K, 1-BB, 3.86
Murph the Surf flew out 3 times and walked tonight in rehab.
6 shutout innings turned bad for Diaz with a 4 run 7th. St Lucie scratched out a run in the 9th to draw close, but Dom Smith flew out to end the game with the tying run on 3rd.
Matt Oberste continues to thrive post-Conforto with 3 more hits, and is hitting over .300 in May and June.
David Roseboom pitches the final 2.1 innings in his Lucie debut in scoreless fashion. The year of the Roseboom continues.
A - Savannah - (39-32) 2 - Lexington (32-39) 6
RHSP Casey Delgado - 5.0-IP, 7-H, 5-R, 6-K, 1-BB, 3.34
In an off night for the Gnats, Vicente Lupo was a 2 way player, knocking in 2 runs with his 10th double and 3rd homer, but added 2 errors. Gnat pitchers were not sharp but did strike out 11.
Low-A - Brooklyn - (4-3) 1 - Connecticut (2-5) 2
RHSP Tyler Baldamo - 6.2-IP, 7-H, 2-R, 5-K, 1-BB, 2.84
No support for Ty Badamo, who has tossed back-to-back fine starts. Four Brooklyn hits.
Rookie - Kingsport - (2-1) 10 - Johnson City (1-2) 8
RHSP Audry German - 5.1-IP, 9-H, 6-R, 3-K, 3-BB, 10.13
C'mon, man, Dash goes crash. Winningham 2 run shot gives the chairman of the Dash board 6 RBIs in 3 games.
But it was a super Knight for catcher Darryl Knight, who hit a 2 run shot and a solo drive too.
9 walks and 9 Ks by 3 K Met hurlers.
Rookie - GCL - the visiting Mets led 1-0, top 5 when the rains came. To be continued.
Rookie - DSL 1Mets (10-11) 2 - Orioles (10-13) 4
LHSP Miquel Guiterrez - 3.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 2-K, 1-BB, 0.00
Rookie - DSL 2 - Mets (15-8) 5 - Yanks 10-13) 2
Nick Debora - 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 1.44 (2-0). Pitching like their ace so far.
