Logan Verrett took to the hill in the nightcap and was spectacular, tossing 6 shutout innings. Casstellanos again was the main offensive cog, with a double (32), single, and his 52nd RBI.
ALEX ALERT: in his last 32 games, Castellanos is hitting .395 with 23 extra base hits. Call him up.

Cecchini & Nimmo each 1-4, Conforto 0-3 with a BB.

A:
Savannah split the twin bill. Eudor Garcia (7) and Tomas Nido (4) both had a homer and 3 RBIs, as Savannah scored 7 on just 4 hits in game 1. Scarlyn Reyes did not have his best outing but still improved to 9-4.
In contrast, game 2 produced no runs and just 3 hits. Michael Gibbons pitched well in the loss.

APPALACHIAN:
Kingsport lost in the 11th. 2015 draftee Thomas Mcilrath fanned 5 and walked 4 in 2.2 IP. Kingsport's ERA (4.88) is more than twice that of Brooklyn's.
GOAT: Kingsport pitching
Check out the production of Castellanos. AAA illusion, or worth a call up?
ReplyDeleteVerrett was a SP until this year, and excelled in the pen this season in Queens. His return to SP in Vegas is off to a bright start.Because of the 4-day ASG break, the Mets won't need a 6th SP until Wednesday the 22nd, giving Logan time for 2 more starts. It could be he instead of Gee who replaces Matz in the rotation. He also has the advantage of being on the 40-man. Gee is not.
ReplyDeleteInteresting...I forgot Gee is not on 40 man. He could easily get passed over then. We need some Logan Slogans to help get him back here.
