DOWN UNDER: Mets Minor League Results 7-12-15
FUTURES GAME: 2 hits for Michael Conforto, and a hit for Brandon Nimmo. Conforto gunned a runner down at the plate as well. Nice work, gents
Stars of the day: Seth Lugo, Logan Taylor, Phil Evans, and Pat Mazelka.
Honorable mention: Binghamton, Saint Lucie, and Kingsport relievers.
A slow day in the minor leagues, as Savannah was rained out and Las Vegas, GCL Mets, and the two DSL teams did not play. Only four teams played on Sunday. 3 well played games and one lousy one.
Binghamton (46-42) shut out Portland (32-58) by a score of 3-0. Seth Lugo through five scoreless innings, and four relievers (Wheeler, Alvarez, Morris, and Velasquez) tossed four more. Aderlin Rodriguez hit his tenth home run in the win.
Gavin Cecchini has now walked 5 times in 2 games, and only has 34 Ks in 76 games.
St Lucie (45-43) continued the shutout parade with a 4-0 victory over Lakeland (39-47). Logan Taylor tossed six scoreless innings with 8 Ks, and Phil Evans drove in three runs. In 5 of his last 10 starts, Taylor has allowed 1 run or less.
JEFF WALTERS UPDATE: My guess is his Tommy John surgery was successful, considering his perfect inning yesterday while fanning the side.
Champ Stuart (.191) just does not seem to be able to improve, going 0-5 with 3 more Ks, giving him 106 in 71 games this year.
Brooklyn (15-7) had a rare bad game, making 5 errors, and surrendering nine runs in a lopsided 9-3 loss to Aberdeen (11-11). SS Al Reyes is hitting .145 and made his 7th error.
Kingsport (11-9) usually has less-than-stellar pitching, but today it had great pitching in an easy 7-1 victory over Bristol (7-11).
Darwin Ramos and Eusebio Arias combined for nine strikeouts while just allowing a single run. Catcher Pat Mazelka had 3 hits and two RBIs and is hitting. 328. SS Raphael Ramirez struck out 4 more times; while he is hitting .246, he has struck out 29 times in just 17 games.
GOAT: Brooklyn's pitching and fielding.
Cecchini had a rough June but is .388/.483/.510 in 12 games in July. Impressive.
ReplyDeleteGuys,
ReplyDeleteI know I keep harping on this, but this website certainly has the insight into the draft and Mack is the best at the subject.
The Mets have, by my calculations, $219,000 left in signing bonuses. Could somebody run down who has not signed, probability of signing, what it will take and what it appears management will do as to eth remaining unsigned draft picks.
