July 10th 2015 -- Mets 4, Diamondbacks 2

Friday night at Citi Field, Noah Syndergaard was dominant on the mound, while the Mets found their power stroke at the plate. The Mets beat the Diamondbacks 4-2. Most the scoring in this game came in the first inning. The Dbacks got on the board first against Thor. A.J. Pollack singled, stole second base and then scored on a sac-fly by Paul Goldschmidt. That was all for the Dbacks against Thor. After that, Syndergaard shut them down and coasted.  The Mets scored their 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st.  Ruben Tejada singled, Wilmer Flores walked, then Lucas Duda hit his first homer since June 18th, his 11th on the year and it was 3-1 Mets.  The next batter, Michael Cuddyer hit a solo homer against Chase Anderson, back to back and it was 4-1, for Cuddyer number 7 on the year. The rest was up to Syndergaard, going 8 strong innings, only allowing 4 hits, the 1 run (earned) walking 2 and striking out a career high 13 batters.  He earns the win improving to 4-4. His ERA drops to 3.11.  Jeurys Familia pitched the 9th inning. He yielded a run, thanks to a triple by Yasmany Tomas and a RBI single by Wellington Castillo. Tomas was initially called out, but was redeemed and awarded a triple thanks to a replay reversal. Familia hung in and earned his 25th save. Anderson takes the loss falling to 4-3.  The Mets managed 10 hits on the night with 2 hit apiece by Juan Lagares, Cuddyer and Flores. With the win the Mets improve to 45-42 on the year and are now 30-14 at home.  The Nats lost to the Orioles Friday night. The Mets are now 2 games behind, in 2nd place in the NL East.  Saturday afternoon it’s game two of the series. Matt Harvey (7-6 3.11) goes for the Mets, Patrick Corbin (1-0 3.60) goes for Arizona.
