Saturday afternoon in Flushing the Met power surge continued
as the Mets hit 3 long balls as they beat the Diamondbacks 4-2. The Dbacks got
off to a quick start off Matt Harvey. In the top of the 1st A.J.
Pollack walked and then came around on a two run homer by David Peralta, his 8th
on the year and it was 2-0 Arizona. It stayed that way until the bottom of the
5th when the Mets came roaring back.
Lucas Duda connected for a long opposite fielder homer, his 12th
on the year and 2nd in two days to cut it to 2-1. Then after a walk
to Eric Campbell, The Dark Knight himself connected on his first ML home run to
give the Mets the lead 3-2. In the 6th
the Mets continued to flex their muscles as Ruben Tejada greeted Corbin with a
solo homer, his 2nd on the year and 9th career to make it
4-2. Harvey earns the win going 7
strong. He allowed just 5 hits 2 runs (earned) he walked 4 and struck out 9. He
improves to 8-6. Corbin takes the loss falling to 1-1. Bobby Parnell pitched
the 8th inning. Jeurys Familia pitched the 9th for this
26th save. The Mets only
managed 4 hits on the day. 3 of them dingers, the other an opposite field
single by Michael Cuddyer. With the win the Mets improve to 46-42 on the year
and 31-14 at Citi Field and have won 3 straight. The Mets will stay at least 2 games in back
of the Nationals who play the Orioles on Saturday night. Sunday Jonathon Niese (4-8 3.58) goes for the
sweep to officially close out the Mets first half. Rubby De La Rose (6-4 4.89) goes for the
Dbacks.
For a minute, I thought no one had posted today and this was last night's game summary because of the score. Then I read it. You write a good summary. Concise, but you get what you want to know from it. For me, it was the fact that Duda is showing signs of coming out of his slump. Keep it up, Bamm-Bamm!
