Mets Promote LF Michael Conforto!

The New York Mets have announced that top prospect OF Michael Conforto has been promoted from AA Binghamton. OF Michael Cuddyer has been placed on the 15 Day Disabled List in order to create room on the active roster.

In 91 games between Advanced A-Port St. Lucie and AA-Binghamton, Conforto was hitting .297 AVG with 12 HR and 54 RBI. His solid numbers are supported by slightly high .331 BABIP, however, his solid 15.1% K rate and equally good 9.9% BB rate suggests that the regression to the mean is not significant enough to harm his production thus far.

STEAMER Projections Systems estimate that Conforto could produce a MLB triple slash of

.252 AVG, .304 OBP. .396 SLG

  1. Not at all.

This is the right move, at the right time.

  2. I feel like the Mets just made a solid trade a week before the trade deadline.

Still need some bench players, but a good day.

  3. This is the right move even if he only hits 230 for the next 3 weeks. Lets hope TC doesnt bat him 8th.

  5. Nice, except I'd have not DL'd Cuddyer. Gimpy, he is more useful as a pinch hitter to Mets than having Mayberry

  6. No - let Cuddy heal - this is a great move!

  7. And so again I say.................
What happens if Mets, on August 1, announce their recent additions of Conforto, TDA and Blevins as being enough? What should we think as fans?

  8. Ernest -

IMO... it would be enough if it included Wright

  9. There's been a Desmond Lindsay sighting in the GCL today. Playing CF.

  10. No way Sandy doesn't make a trade - if we get healthy and add one solid bat to the bench, this team can win the division

  11. Yes. Congratulations to Conforto.

My fear is what this promotion means in regards to trading to upgrade the team.
From past experience, Alderson's moves like this are his way of waving the shiny bobble in front of his fan base and media's faces.
I fear thus might be a final sign that Alderson is completely out of the market for difference making offensive upgrades.

  12. The nationals will be getting back all their players also plus trades. So winning the division will not be easy.

  15. @Hobie

Rafael Montero was transferred from the 15 day DL to the 60 Day DL

  16. montero has been on the dl Since april 28th, so the 60 days part isnt that long it may already be enough, though they still have to make a 40 man roster move when his is healthy.

7th, ugh! man TC likes that stupid L,R thing more thenjust putting your best hitters next to each other and leaving rueben in he 2nd hole.

  17. FINALLY! After 5 drafts, an Alderson pick reaches the majors. I may have overlooked someone, but IIRC, every minor league callup in Sandy's 5 years has either been an Omar acquision or someone received in a trade for an Omar acquisition.

Long overdue, but hopefully successful. Good luck, Michael!
