August 22nd 2015 -- Mets 14, Rockies 9

Saturday night at Coors Field, the Mets bats were out in full force again as they beat the Rockies by the score of 14-9 for the second straight night.  The Mets scored 3 runs in the top of the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead. The Rockies answered back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The Mets then exploded for 8 runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. The Mets lead eventually got to 11 runs as they led 14-3 going to the bottom of the 5th, but the Rockies scored a run in the 5th, 4 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th to match the same score as Friday night.  The Mets batted around without making an out in the 4th.  The Long ball took a back seat on this night as Juan Uribe provided the only big fly for the Mets in 3rd, his 5th as a Mets and 13th on the year.  The Mets amassed 21 hits on the game.  Juan Lagares went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI, Wilmer Flores went 3 for 5 with an RBI,  Curtis Granderson went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Cuddyer, Travis d’Arnaud, Uribe and Ruben Tejada each had 2 hits. Uribe, d’Arnaud and Jon Niese each had 2 RBI in the win. Niese lasted long enough to get the win going 5 innings allowing 11 hits 7 runs (earned) walking 2 and striking out 3. He improves to 8-9.  Rockies starter Chris Rusin got shelled for 11 earned runs on 12 hits in 2 innings. He falls to 4-6. Eric O’Flaherty pitched a 1/3 of an inning and gave up a run; Carlos Torres went an 1 1/3 and allowed a run as well. Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless 8th.  For the 2nd straight night Jeurys Familia retired the side in the 9th in a non-save situation.  Jose Reyes had a solo shot,  Charlie Blackman had a 2 run homer , Kyle Parker had 4 RBI for the Rockies. The Mets have now beat the Rockies 10 straight times. They improve to 66-56 on the year and are now 24-35 on the road.  The Nats won on Saturday so the Mets maintain a 5 game lead in the NL East.  Sunday Afternoon is the series finale.  Logan Verrett (0-1 2.82) makes a spot start for the Mets, David Hale (3-4 6.17) goes for the Rockies.
