DOWN UNDER: Mets Minor League Results 9/4/15
STAR OF THE DAY: Brandon Nimmo, Logan Taylor
HONORABLE MENTION: Dillon Gee, Dilson Herrera
SCORES:
Binghamton (75-63) 0 - Altoona 8
St Lucie (68-68) 4 - Bradenton 1
Savannah (78-49) - Greenville RAINED OUT - AGAIN
Brooklyn (33-40) 3 - Connecticut 4
Kingsport 2- Greeneville 6 Playoff loss - series tied 1-1.
Now Here's the Scoop:
Las Vegas went with 7-3, 4.87 Dillon Gee, and he was superb in this Vegas victory. He went 7 innings, 4 hits and 1 run, and 7 Ks, while moving to 8-3. Just 4 earned runs in his last 4 starts,,,September call up, perhaps?
Brandon Nimmo had 4 hits including another HR. Dilson Herrera hit his 10th, and Josh Rodriguez drove in 3 runs.
Binghamton was never in this one, losing 8-0 in Rob Gsellman's worst game of the year (4 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 3 BB, 2K). Bingo could do nothing offensively vs. 9-3 Steve Brault.
St Lucie went with Logan Taylor who, for the 2nd time in his last 3 starts, allowed just 1 hit, moving to 8-8,3.69 . Vinny Siena knocked in 2 runs with a double. FSL MVP Dominic Smith did not play.
Savannah either wins or gets rained out. Tonight, all wet.
Brooklyn scored 3 in the 6th on a bases loaded double by Brandon Brosher (.179). Unfortunately, that was it for the offense,,,and Cyclone pitchers allowed 4 runs. Do the math, dear reader - another Cyclone defeat.
Kingsport's starter Nabil Crismatt was not bad, but allowed 2 homers and 4 runs over 7 innings. The K Mets scored only 2 runs, so after tonight's loss, tied 1-1 in the best of 3 playoff series.
GOAT: Rob Gsellman
Nimmo!!!
ReplyDeleteConforto, d'Arnaud, Nimmo, Cecchini, and Herrera are looking like they can form the nucleus of the lineup for a long time to come. The Mets also have other position prospects who can play roles, although I'd hold off for now as I'd like to see 1-2 vets added to the lineup in a couple of years once this group matures and there's no way to know what will transpire and who might be available.
ReplyDeleteNimmo had 3 homers in his first 102 games this year, then a homer in each of the last 2. I sense a shift.
ReplyDeleteJust joking but 3 homers in his first 102 games puts him well behind TJ Rivera, who everyone critiques as lacking any real prospect power.
So Nimmo has to target at least a 15 homer pace next year. We don't need another Dave Magadan.
He is just .269/.362/.372 in AA/AAA this year, while Travis Taijeron in slightly more at bats is .278/.396/.543, with 25 homers in 385 official at bats. And few see Taijeron as a future major leaguer. Nimmo clearly has only bettered Taijeron in his lower K rate...but Taijeron otherwise crushes Nimmo, who has a LONG way to go.
I'm not worried about 10-15 HR power if he can get OB at a .370-.380 clip.
DeleteMichael S, Conforto, d'Arnaud, Nimmo, Cecchini, and Herrera make for a good nucleus. Include Flores in there too, and I am on board.
