B-METS GAME NOTES: Game #15 - B-Mets (5-9) vs. SeaWolves (8-8)

LAST TIME OUT : The B-Mets recorded ten hits but managed only two runs and fell, 7-2, to the Erie SeaWolves Saturday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium, their sixth straight loss. Rainy Lara was tagged for six runs, five earned, on seven hits in five innings, taking the loss. Derrik Gibson was 2-for-4 and Kyle Johnson went 2-for-3.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Mickey Jannis goes for the B-Mets, his first start at NYSEG Stadium in 2016. Jannis pitched twice on the road trip and carried a no-hitter into the seventh during a April 14 start in Erie. He last threw on Tuesday in Akron and took the loss after surrendering  four runs on five hits in four innings.

ERIE STARTER: RHP Myles Jaye will start against the B-Mets for the second time this season. Binghamton hit him hard on April 14 in Erie, scoring seven runs, five earned, on eight hits in three innings. His last time out, Jaye took a no decision with two runs against over six innings at home against Bowieon Tuesday.

HOME FIELD DISADVANTAGE: Mickey Jannis makes his first home start of the season and only his second start at NYSEG Stadium in his career. The only one of his three regular season Double-A starts that came at home in 2015 took place on September 7 against Altoona. The Curve managed three runs on two hits and four walks as Jannis was lifted in the first inning having only recorded two outs.

CUT ON AND MISSED: Binghamton batters struck out eleven times in Saturday’s loss to Erie, the fourth consecutive game that the Mets tallied double digit strikeouts. As a team, Binghamton has struck out 131 times, fifth most in the Eastern League. At one point on Saturday, Erie reliever Gabe Hemmerstruck out five straight B-Mets batters. Phillip Evans struck out three times in his Double-A debut, matching the single game high for a B-Met this season.

TAKE TWO: Today’s starting pitcher matchup is a rematch of an April 14 game in Erie that the B-Mets won 12-2

HITTING THE SKIDS: The B-Mets have lost six straight games, their longest losing streak since they dropped the same number of contests in a row to close the 2014 regular season (8/27-9/1). Binghamton’s last seven-game losing streak occurred in 2012, Pedro Lopez’s first year as manager. The B-Mets dropped seven straight from 6/26/12 to 7/2/12 against the Baysox and Curve.

A STARK CONTRAST: Binghamton’s .227 batting average is last in the league while Erie’s .260 mark is first. The SeaWolves have game with 16 and 10 hits in this series, the first and third highest totals by an opponent this season.
