LAST TIME OUT : Harrisburg plated the eventual game winning run on a Stephen Perez RBI double in the 11th inning and the Senators outlasted the B-Mets 4-3 Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Victor Cruzado drove in two runs in a 2-for-5 evening and Kyle Regnault struck out four over five two-run innings in his Double-A debut.

BINGHAMTON STARTERRHP Rainy Lara begins his third season in Binghamton with his first start of 2016. Lara made 19 starts with the B-Mets in 2015, totaling a 9-5 record to go with a 3.44 ERA. He also appeared five times with Las Vegas (AAA) and was 0-0 with an ERA of 7.13.

HARRISBURG STARTER: RHP Austen Williams  opened 2015 with Hagerstown (Low-A) and notched a record of 8-1 with a 2.09 ERA. He was named a South Atlantic League All-Star and finished the season with Potomac (High-A) where he went 4-6 with an ERA of 2.59. Despite tonight signifying his Double-A debut it is not the highest level at which Williams has pitched. He made a spot start with Syracuse (AAA) June 6, 2015, giving up five runs in four innings against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

EXTRA EXTRA: Tuesday’s 4-3 loss in 11 innings represented the first extra inning game of 2016. Last season Binghamton was 3-5 in games that went past the scheduled nine innings. It was the first time Binghamton and Harrisburg had played an extra inning game since August 2, 2012 when the Mets walked-off with a 4-3 win in twelve innings behind a Dustin Martin single.

REACHING NEW HEIGHTS: Tonight’s starter Rainy Lara set multiple career-highs in 2015, his second season in Binghamton. Lara had the most wins (9), starts (24) and innings pitched (134.0) of his professional career. He also appeared at Triple-A for the first time, making five starts with Las Vegas.

HITTING THE ROAD: Tonight’s game concludes the opening homestand. The B-Mets hit the road for the first time in 2016 with visits to Erie and Akron. Last season Binghamton went 40-31 away from NYSEG Stadium.

SWING...AND A MISS: Binghamton struck out a season-high 14 times in the 4-3 loss to Harrisburg on Tuesday night. Six of the eight starting position players struck out at least once in the 11 inning affair, headlined by three strikeouts from Dom Smith and Stefan Sabol.

MAROONED ON THE BASEPATHS: The B-Mets went just 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to Harrisburg, stranding 13 runners on base in the process. Binghamton was aided by nine walks issued by Senators pitching, only two of which resulted in Mets runs.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW The B-Mets will leave the Southern Tier for the first time in 2016, embarking on a seven-game road trip to Erie and Akron. Binghamton will open a four-game set with the Seawolves at 6:35 P.M. on Thursday. The knuckleballing RHP Mickey Jannis makes his first start of the season opposite Erie’s RHP Myles Jaye.
