Binghamton 8 - Portland 1

The Binghamton Mets collected seventeen hits, including 15 singles, en route to an 8-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Seven B-Mets registered multiple hits to back starter Casey Delgado in his first career Double-A victory.
Binghamton supplied Delgado with a four-run lead before he threw a pitch. Dominic Smith put the B-Mets on the board with a flared RBI single to left in the first inning. Xorge Carrillo punched a run-producing single to right, Phillip Evans smoked another up the middle and Maikis De La Cruz capped the four-run frame with an RBI hit to left-center.
Delgado put down eight of the first nine Sea Dogs he faced. He side-stepped Nate Freiman’s leadoff double in the second and pitched around Henry Ramos’ two-bagger in the third. In the fourth, left fielder Victor Cruzado nabbed Cole Sturgeon at the plate to keep the Sea Dogs off the board.
Binghamton chased Buttrey from the game in the second and added four runs against the Portland bullpen. Derrik Gibson supplied an RBI single in the fifth. In the sixth, De La Cruz threaded a solo homer over the right-field wall and Carrillo roped a run-scoring double off the Maine Monster.
Delgado (1-1) struck out two and scattered five hits over six innings to earn the victory. Kelly Secrest, Beck Wheeler and Akeel Morris each tossed a scoreless inning to close Binghamton’s pitching tab.
Buttrey (0-6) was touched for four runs on seven hits and recorded just three outs in the loss.
