Daytona 1 - St. Lucie 0

The Daytona Tortugas shut out the St. Lucie Mets 1-0 on Friday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The Mets were unable to capitalize on three Tortugas errors, including back-to-back errors to start the seventh inning.

Daytona scored the only run of the game in the third on a one-out RBI single by Blake Trahan that scored Jonathan Reynoso from second base. Reynoso bunted his way on.

Josh Prevost took the tough luck loss despite making his best start of the year. He limited the Tortugas to the one run on seven hits over 6.1 innings. He walked one and struck out four.

Tortugas starter Tyler Mahle blanked the Mets for six innings. He gave up five hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Jacob Ehret pitched out of the seventh inning jam and struck out two. Jimmy Herget recorded his seventh save by retiring all four batters he faced. The trio of pitchers struck out the Mets 10 times.

The best chance the Mets had to score came in the seventh when John Mora and Jhoan Urena reached on errors with no outs. Patrick Bionid couldn’t get a bunt down and struck out. Champ Stuart then popped out on the infield. Luis Guillorme kept the rally alive with an infield single that loaded the bases, but Amed Rosario struck out for the third time to end the threat.

In the eighth, Tomas Nido drew a two-out walk and advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw. He was stranded when Mora ground out to short.

Guillorme went 3 for 4 and had half of the Mets hits. Wuilmer Becerra doubled to give the Mets an extra base hit in 24 straight games.

Stuart singled in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
