It's amazing that it only took a winning organization like the Cardinals less than two months to see that the man had very little going for him -- no power, no speed, barely adequate defense, and poor hitting overall. Mets fans endured him since his last interval above replacement player level way back in 2012. Winning teams know when to cut their losses and try something new. (So do winning managers).
SNY Reports The Transaction
Watch out. The Met may sign him to start at 3B if Wright were to retire. Mets specialize in recurring nightmares.
ReplyDeleteSo Marlon Byrd will be on the bench next year? :)
ReplyDelete(Ducking and hiding)
He is already working out with Jenrry Mejia. Two PED heads.

DeleteI can sort of believe that the Mets might resign him again. Syndergaard got thrown out of a game for throwing at Utley who injured Tejada.
ReplyDeleteI can believe it, too. The same minds who think they can replace the HR and RBI production lost by Duda, d'Arnaud and Wright can somehow be replaced by singles hitters like Loney, Kelly and Tejada. Yet they use that as an excuse to keep TJ Rivera in AAA -- he doesn't hit for power.
ReplyDeleteI have been wearing that TJR heart on my sleeve for several years now. Admittedly i've only seen him play a half a dozen times (5 actually, 3 in Bklyn, 2 in Bingo) and he fielded well & hit better.
ReplyDeleteAs of today only only Pappi, Robinson Cano & some guy in AA have more RBI's in all of professional baseball. If they need a couple of days before relegating DW to the 60-day, & free up a 40-man spot, OK.
This is not the time of year a Cespedes-like trade can be made and I don't think we can wait for that moment. A player who could give us an 86 Kevin Mitchell production & versatility (and would not endanger any cats) is sitting in LV, likely with his cup on.
Hobie, TJ is durable, unlike Wright. He has hit .409 with runners in scoring position, which is what you want to see. Hitting .343 2014-16. Slugging .536 this year too.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't he hit at least .240 in bigs? A huge improvement over the cruddy subs of 2015 and 2016 (excluding Uribe And Johnson, of course, both of whom are gone).
Utley would have been a nice pick up. Hate quickly turns to love when the villain of yore helps your team.
Would have wretched (at least at first) had they picked up Utley.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked a Zobrist signing but wanted Murphy more. NOT for 2B (Herrera I thought would be ready) but 3B/1B. I thought at worst (may at best>) Murphy, Wright & Dudda would share 2 x 162/3 G given Wright's fragility & Lucas' slumpitude. That's 104 there plus another 40 as dH and some 2B vs. RHP. As it turns out Murph would have 155 G.
But that flotsam & jetsam has gone under the bridge. I think now they have to try Walker at 3B and bring up Dilson. Wilmer & TJ would be my UT. I would even consider a TJ-Legares-Cespedes OF against LHP.
BTW, Mitchell in 86: .277/.344/.466/.810
OMG....IT'S REYNOLDS AGAIN......there just aren't words. If David is the kind of player/person we think he is then he knows it only hurts the club to continue this charade. Do yourself and the team a favor and go to management and settle this so you and the team can move on. You can call your friend Cuddyer for advise.
ReplyDeleteI'd like the Mets to go after Jed Lowrie! Shouldn't cost too much
ReplyDeleteTomorrow at 8:00 AM I will have some thoughts and analysis of what needs to be done and why certain things are not being done.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Lagares could play third. He did come up as a shortstop.
