The First Academy (FL) senior SS Cash Case went 6-for-7 with 2 home runs and 3 doubles in a doubleheader on March 7th.

J.J. Schwarz homered to start off the ninth inning on Wednesday. After hitting 18 homers his freshman year, Schwarz has struggled to consistently tap into his power.

            MLB Draft: - Schwarz has developed significantly during his career with the Gators. He has a .292 average with six home runs and 54 RBI along with a .451 slugging percentage this season. Schwarz had improved quite a bit as a hitter in his first two college seasons, and he has the tools to remain behind the plate at the next level, although he will still need some improvement in this area.

           

North Davidson (NC) OF Austin Beck went 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs tonight. Many scouting directors in attendance.

            Baseball Factory: - At the Burlington, NC Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout on Saturday April 10, 2016, 2017 OF Austin Beck (a UNC commit from Arcadia, NC) registered a 97 mph exit velocity, ran 6.62 in the 60 yard dash, and posted 91 mph raw velocity. BF-PocketRadar_4.10Beck’s 97 mph exit velocity was the highest we saw at any of the five events held nationally across the weekend, and places him just inside the top ten among 2017 graduates. His 91 mph raw velocity enters him into a tie for fifth place, while his 6.62 60 yard dash figures just inside the top 25

LHP Jacob Heatherly off to a fast start for Cullman HS (ALA). Clean arm, FB 90-93. Excellent feel for CB w + depth

            Fangraphs: - Though a bit physically mature, Heatherly is a sturdily built 6-foot-3 with a thick lower half and minimalist delivery. His velocity has been climbing all summer and he topped out at 95 on Sunday in San Diego while sitting 91-93 with sink. He has a four-pitch mix that includes a slider, curveball and changeup. He has feel for locating the low-70s curveball, which is average, while the upper-70s slider is frisbee-ish and below average but, again, there’s nascent feel there. Though none of his secondaries are presently awe-inspiring, strong-bodied lefties with heavy, plus fastballs don’t exactly grow on trees and I think Heatherly merits sandwich-round consideration right now. If any of his secondary pitches take a step forward next spring he could sneak into the back of the first round.
