Tom Brennan - NOIVES? WHAT NOIVES?

Tom Brennan - NOIVES?  WHAT NOIVES?

This is a "waiting-for-the wife, quick hit" article.

"Noives, what noives"?  I could picture Curley from the Three Stooges saying that (any Mack Writer who wants to add a Curley picture, feel free).

Much harder for an aspiring prospect to say that.  Nerves have to affect most such guys when they get a rare chance to hit in a real spring training game with major leaguers.

But some of those who've been in games the least, through Friday, have said with bats or arms, "Noives, what Noives?"

Only time for Noives-free bats today - pitchers next time.

Here they are:

Krushin' Kevin Kaczmarski - 4 for 5

Destructive David Thompson - 3 for 3

Lambasting Luis Carpio - 2 for 4

Jammin' Jayce Boyd - 1 for 2, with 2 runs scored

Joyful John Mora - 1 for 2, triple, game-tying RBI

Bashin' Blake Tiberi - 1 for 2, a double

Laser Lee Mazzilli, 3 for 9 with a double and HR

But other guys have not yet hit when their number was called, whether due to nerves or limited at bats: Messrs Alonzo, Berrios, Carillo, Cespedes (Ricky), Cone, Oberste, Play, Sanchez, Taylor, Tebow (yes, that Tebow), and Woodmansee are a combined 0-26.

Keep trying, boys.  Relax, it's just NOIVES.

  1. Who's on first?

    I don't know.

    He's on third.

    Wait.

    That's the other guys.

    1. We've had too many years wig Mo, Larry and Curley in our starting line ups. 2017 is more like the Avengers. Big season ahead

  2. Paul Sewald impressed today, with 2 scoreless. Alderson was in the booth talking about Sewald, and Sewald was TOO efficient and he 1-2-3'd the inning before Sandy finished. But that's a good thing. I read that a coach told him to use his slider more when he hit his struggle period in Vegas last year. It helped a lot. He most likely is a major leaguer in waiting - and hopefully waiting not much longer.
