The Bradenton Marauders jumped out to an early lead and went on to defeat the St. Lucie Mets 4-1 on Wednesday at First Data Field to complete a three-game sweep.
A RBI infield single by Will Craig and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Trace Tim Sing against Mets starter Andrew Church in the first inning provided a 2-0 cushion for the Marauders.
The Mets threatened in the second inning when they loaded the bases with no outs, but all they could muster was one run when Nick Sergakis bounced into a double play.
A pair of triples hit by Logan Hill and Kevin Krause in the sixth inning helped the Marauders plate two more runs and take a 4-1 lead.
Two Bradenton relievers – Jess Amedee and Seth McGarry – stymied the Mets over the final 4.1 innings. The duo did not allow a hit or a run. Amedee got the win while McGarry earned the save.
The struggling Mets offense only recorded two hits after the second inning.
J.C. Rodriguez went 2 for 4. Catcher Anthony Dimino singled in his first Florida State League at-bat.
Church settled down after a long first inning and didn’t allow any runs in the final three innings he pitched.
Bradenton starter Pedro Vazquez allowed six hits and one run in 4.2 innings.
Krause finished a home run shy of the cycle.
The Mets dropped to 0-5 at First Data Field. Bradenton improved to 7-0 this season and remains the only unbeaten team in MiLB.
