Las Vegas 51s 7, Fresno Grizzlies 5

Press Release - The 51s defeated the River Cats, 7-5, for their fourth straight victory before a Smith’s Value Menu Monday crowd of 3,495 at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas swept the three-game series against Sacramento and were 5-2 on the seven-game homestand.

51s first baseman Dominic Smith (3-for-5, 3 RBI) delivered the walk-off, two-run homer (with no outs) to right center fielder to score shortstop Amed Rosario (2-for-5), who led off the inning with a single up the middle.

Las Vegas, trailing 4-1, tied the game in the sixth inning on a three-run homer to left field by catcher Kevin Plawecki (1-for-4).

Las Vegas right-hander Ricky Knapp pitched 7 innings in the no decision. He allowed 9 hits, 4 runs, issued no walks and struck out 4.

Right-hander Paul Sewald pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory.

The 51s will embark on an eight-game Northern California road trip beginning tomorrow evening in Fresno, against the Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

  1. Besides Smith, good to see Rosario hitting and Sewald not have a letdown after his demotion.
