The 51s defeated the River Cats, 4-1, for their second straight victory in the opener of the three-game series (game five of the seven-game homestand, 3-2 record) before a 51s “35 Seasons” T-Shirt Night crowd of 6,168 at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas right-hander Wilfredo Boscan pitched 4 shutout innings in the no decision and allowed 5 hits, walked 2 and struck out 5.

Right-hander Kevin McGowan recorded the victory and tossed 2 scoreless innings and struck out 3.

Right-hander Paul Sewald pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn his second save. He retired pinch-hitter Carlos Moncrief on a pop out with the bases loaded to end the 8^th inning.

Left fielder Matt Reynolds was 2-for-4, two runs scored and right fielder Travis Taijeron was 2-for-4, double, RBI.

Game two of the series is Sunday at 12:05 p.m.
