ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia outscored Lakewood, 5-4, in the last six innings despite the 10-7 defeat. Andres Gimenez collected his third-multi hit game of the season and drove in two runs. Spirit Communications Park was sold out for the third time this season bringing this year’s total attendance to 100,834 fans.

TWICE IS NICE: Three Fireflies hitters finished with multi-hit games on Sunday:

            Andres Gimenez: 2-for-5, 2 RBI
            Michael Paez: 2-for-5, RBI
            Ali Sanchez: 2-for-3, 2 R, RBI

TROPHY: Fireflies starting pitcher Merandy Gonzalez was named South Atlantic League Player of the Month for April, the league announced Monday. Here are some of the accomplishments from the righty during this month…

· Only starting pitcher in professional baseball (MiLB & MLB) to not allow a run - 28.1 scoreless innings.

· He becomes the first Firefly to earn a monthly SAL award.

· Career-long 7.2 innings in two of his four starts.

NOSTRADAMUS: Before the season Baseball America projected Merandy Gonzalez as New York’s “breakout prospect” of 2017.

MORE HARDWARE: Former Firefly P.J. Conlon earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Week as a member of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A). The lefty tossed seven scoreless innings and recorded nine strikeouts on May 6. Conlon was 8-1 with a 1.84 ERA in 12 starts with Columbia last season.
