Mack's Morning Report: Friday August 25, 2017

Michael Conforto.

He is our morning news and his video is sickening to watch.

Have your morning coffee first.

The season where he was going to hit 35 home runs and establish himself as a star among stars, he has dislocated his shoulder in a powerful swing.

It is devastating to Met fans who thought they were immune to devastating news this year.

The list of injuries to the Mets of 2017 is comedic if it wasn't so cringe worthy.

Phil Mushnick of the New York Post writes this morning:

Hey, it’s never too early to try to wash some of that $110 million they’re paying Yoenis Cespedes despite previous years of ample evidence that he would be as reliably unreliable as a pack of damp matches.

The article about Bob Ley and the Marlin's Stanton is interesting.

  1. Ron Darling said it all as it unfolded - he has never seen a guy dislocate his shoulder on a swing - now there is also a tear that appears it will require surgery, last I read? This is a cursed franchise.

Can Nimmo say healthy and play every day to prove his worth? Can Lagares?

  2. Can we finally get a peek at Taijeron? If they put Conforto on the 60-day DL a 40-man roster spot opens up.

  3. Shut down Conforto for the rest of the season and do the surgery.

Open up a 40-man slot with the Conforto 60-day DL listing.

Put Boyn, Taijeron, or Snider on 40-man and call one up for the remainder of the season (I vote for Snider)

No more prospect promotions who will risk injuries this year

  4. The Curse of Murphy.

This has never happened to any other player as far as I know. Leave it to a Mets player to be the first.

  5. Viper, so many weird and extremely long injuries:

Conforto's first time ever shoulder tear while swinging

    Harvey's scapular (?) injury

Thor's muscle tear, costing almost the entire season

    Matz's ulnar injury

Lugo and TJ Rivera's partial MCL tears

    Wheeler's stress reaction

    Lagares thumb tear

    Familia's blood clot surgery

And all the "normal" injuries, several of which resulted in significant missed time.

    Bizarre. Beyond bizarre.

  6. Don't forget Nimmo's collapsed lung for a bizarre injury and anyone know if TJ had TJS?
