Mack's Morning Report Thursday August 24, 2017

The kids are alright.

Our youngsters continue to impress.

With Brandon Nimmo setting the table going 1 for 1 (double) with 3 walks, once again, the youngsters came through. His OBP is now .368.  He scored twice.

Michael Conforto made solid contact, with exit velocity routinely at 100mph plus, went 2 for 4 and drove in 2 runs.

Dom Smith 1 for 3 with his third home run.  He continues to down play celebrations, suggesting that he has much more to offer.

Amed Rosario was 2 for 4 with yet another run batted in.

Flexen did well with 6 innings (which is 2017's version of a "complete" game) where he only gave up 2 runs, while walking 4 and striking out 5.

1986:

For those interested in lie detection, there is a short lesson on Lenny Dykstra who is accused of theft and trashing a hotel room.

Caution:  it is "pathetic on steroids" to read:

Was Lenny truthful in his denial?

  1. "The kids are alright." Let 'em play.

Nimmo/Legares every other day (indep of R/L), Rosario, Conforto, Ces, Smith, Flores (2b), 3B round-robin, TdA/Plaw every other day. See what shakes out.

  3. So...with Conforto now out of commission what does the braintrust do? Methinks they will go shorthanded until Saturday when Reyes is eligible to come off the DL. Gotta save money on airfares.

Speaking of roster changes, do you think Josh Smoker sealed his fate today? Yes, I know he's lefthanded, but his one inning of work included giving up a run charged to starter Montero, as well as three baserunners to go along with his two strikeouts. It's great he can fan people when he's not issuing free passes or meatballs. Buh-bye!

    Not Travis Snider I hope.
