Source - Mets Returning to 2017 Payroll Numbers
I'm being told by a reliable source that Sandy Alderson has made serious progress with the Mets ownership to increase the projected 2018 payroll to the same level of 2017.
Anderson is convinced that he can not put a competitive team on the field unless he reinvests in the team. This would include bringing in proven talent to play, and start, on third base, one of the outfield positions, a proven reliever, plus a ++ starter to go SP3 behind Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard.
My source says he will attempt to achieve these goals through both free agent signings and trades.
We may see this process begin in the next seven days.
Fingers crossed !
ReplyDeleteI 100% concur - it is what I am saying all along - you spend more, you win more, your fans take you seriously, they come out more. Or let the Yanks run roughshod over you by pinching pennies. Choice to me is clear.
ReplyDeleteWe all know this is the only way you can have a competitive team against the Nats.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only the Nats that the Mets need to be concerned with. Aggressive moves by the Braves and Phillies could spell trouble for the Mets. This team needs a significant talent upgrade this offseason.
