Tom Brennan - GET OUT AND VOTE

Tom Brennan - GET OUT AND VOTE

We Macks Mets writers can postulate all the live-long day about what the Mets should do this off season, whom they should acquire, etc.

Let's look at it a different way by voting.

Vote Yanks (Y) or Mets (M).  Here's your voting ballot:

Referendum 1 - Who had a better season, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 2 - Who will have a better off season, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 3 - Who will have a higher payroll on opening day, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 4 - Who will be considered the #1 baseball team in NY in 2018, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 5 - Who will have a better record in 2018, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 6 - Who will have a better chance at the playoffs, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 7 - Who will draw a lot more fans in 2018, Yanks or Mets?

Referendum 8 - Who will attract the most new fans in 2018, Yanks or Mets?

Depending on the vote results on those questions, what would you as a Mets owner do?

  2. My vote? I'll never tell, but questions 1 thru 8, I vote Y. What would I as an owner do? Ask my co-owners "What's in YOUR WALLET?" Then start spending. This is our race to the moon? Will we let the Bronx enemies get there first. NO, NO, NO

  4. HOW you spend is what counts, not how much. For more detail, read Bob Klapish's book "The Worst Team Money Could Buy", about the 1993 Mets. YUUUGE payroll, 100+ losses.

  5. Bill, you are right - you can mess up spending big bucks. But if you spend small bucks, you need incredible luck to win.

  6. What is with the Yankees obsession? It seems to be the focus of all your posts of late.........a better point of focus should be the Nats, who are our true competition. Screw the Skanks!

  7. Anonymous, as businessmen competing with the Yanks for a NY fan base that drives each team's revenues, revenues with which ownership can invest more in players, the Mets seem all too willing to surrender the revenue contest with the Yanks annually. Thus the Yanks can spend aggressively, and rarely find themselves the 2nd best team in town partly for that reason.

The articles, as much as anything else, are meant to shame Mets management, if in fact they bother to consider blog critiques.

The Nats I see as a problem that will significantly dissipate once (presumably) they lose Harper - if, of course, this Mets team fixes itself.

  8. Yanks own Mets.

You see, the Mets have a inferiority complex that starts with the Wilpons and trickles down to the GM to the manager, organization ect. They are perfectly comfortable with being the #2 team in NY because they don't and won't commit to make it #1.

Everything about the Mets is second class. They don't draft well, don't develop well, can't keep up with a give plan...just sickening being a Mets fan and watching this garbage year in and year out.

But they will give you hope like they did in 2015/2016 to keep you hooked up in a perpetual cycle of manure which flows down back to the Flushing toilet.
