Seattle has claimed RP Chason Bradford off of waivers. I'll never understand why the Mets chose him above Rafael Montero.
The Mets released RP Ronald Guedez. He was an international sign in 2012 and never seems to get out of the starting gate. His most appearances were 14 in 2013, as a 17-year old, for the DSL Mets. Pitched in only 10 games for Kingsport in 2016 (1.08) and none last year.

A source of mine said that
he suffered a broken throwing hand 3/4ths of the way into the 2016 season and never
recovered.
This sadly looks like a
major career ending injury for a kid that was turning some decent numbers.
The Mets also resigned
C Jeff Glenn to a minor league contract.
Glenn was a 9th
round pick in 2009, who was held back by a light bat (.218 lifetime minor league
batting average). His best year was last season, hitting .234 (47-ABs) for Las
Vegas.
We see a lot of these
catcher signings just before pitchers and catchers report to camp. Every team
needs as many guys as they can find to work the back fields that week and the
chances of Glenn surviving past that is limited.
Nice guy, but probably should
move on to college coaching.
The Mets have invited OF
Tim Tebow, 1B Peter
Alonso, LHP P.J. Conlon, OF Kevin Kaczmarski,C Patrick
Mazeika, RHP Drew Smith, RHP Corey Taylor, 3B David Thompson,
RHP Adonis Uceta, OF Zach
Borenstein, IF Phil Evans, C Jose Lobaton and LHP Matt
Purke to major-league camp this spring.
I know why Tebow got the MLB invite but I don’t feel he deserves it .. strictly my opinion.
ReplyDeleteEd- I agree 100%. Tebow is merely an attraction in Florida. He is there to sell tickets.
ReplyDeleteIt probably doesn't mean anything, but all 3 NRI outfielders hit left handed. If I was a suspicious person, I might think it portends a Nimmo trade.
IMO, Jayce Boyd also deserves an invite. I realize it was only in Vegas, but he did post a .297/.371/.512/.883 last year. And he plays both OF and 1B, a combo the team said they were looking for before signing A-Gon.
