  1. There is the Juan Lagares Met fans know......on the injured list already.

  2. The Smith hiccup could be serious.

    Surprised Tebow didn't heal himself.

For now OF 1-5 are Cespedes, Nimmo, den Dekker (aren't you happy we signed him now?), Kelly, and Borenstein

  3. Bob -

I like Juan. I really do. But I just don't think he 1) has the ability to not play at a 120% level, and 2) has the body to play this way.

  4. Too much working out? My article on Tuesday at 8 discusses that.

  5. Lagares just updated - "strained left hamstring" - much worse than initial report...

Who's left in the free agent market???

  6. Concerned about Jay's plantar fasciitis - that is scary.

  7. Reality of Lagares tendency for injury is exactly why a CF should have been off season priority over Bruce......unless Mets are confident in Nimmo as a full time Centerfielder

  8. You couldn't pick a more fragile position to start this season off with injuries than the outfield.

My guess that, after seeing Tebow hit bombs today in batting practice, that his sprained ankle is not the one he pushes off while batting.

He is probably trying to step up knowing that any elongated loss of any combination of Conforto, Lagares, and Bruce could give him the opening for OF5 on opening day.

Tom could be right also... Bruce, due to his age, could have the worse injury of them all.

Like I said, I will wait this one out.

Bruce and Lagares are also taking reps in the batting cages this morning.

  10. Rich Coutinho -

I asked Bruce how he was feeling and he told me it is very minor. He will play on Tuesday just being cautious. Then politely thanked me for asking

  12. Reimold has been around the Baltimore Orioles for a long time -- since 2009. He has 15-20 HR power if playing full time but around a .245 or so average. I don't remember how he is defensively. He's right handed and would be a platoon partner for Nimmo if Lagares is headed to his familiar place on the DL.

  13. On available free agents capable of playing CF, the biggest name is Jon Jay who remains unsigned. After that you have Arismendy Alcantara and Alejandro de Aza (ugh!). Then you have various other outfielders, including Justin Ruggiano, Franklin Guttierez, Ben Revere, Andre Ethier, Chris Coghlan, Jayson Werth, Carlos Gonzalez, Seth Smith and Ichiro Suzuki.

  14. O.K. Brandon this is your shot my boy now run with it and maybe you can be Gehrig to Lagares's Wally Pipp.....hey it's 3 games into spring training so I'm pushing the positive outlook thing. To bad about JL but has there been a bigger disappointment the last few years than him? Maybe TD'A would be a close second just edging out Zach Wheeler.

  15. I can't call a player a "disappointment" because of an injury. I'm disappointed with the numbers, but that's a different concept.

Also, it's way too soon to look for outside help. If Lag isn't ready for OD, give Nimmo the job for the month or so until 4to is back, with dD as backup.

  16. Always aches and pains at the start of camp. Lets see which of these gents is playing within 3-5 days.

  17. Smith and Tebow are ticketed for the minors anyway, and Bruce is ready to go. Lag is the big question markm
