1. Nick Madrigal Oregon
State
2080 Baseball - Smaller in stature, needs some additional
strength; good baseball player with good instincts for the game; played both
second base and shortstop in viewings; arm is playable at short but fits better
at second base; pesky, aggressive hitter who makes good contact and sprays the
ball around to all fields; good bat control, barrels up balls; singles/doubles
hitter with projection to average hit tool (50); limited pull power which will
play below-average at maturity; 80-grade runner clocking home-to-first times in
the 3.94-to-4.10 second range; good instincts on the bases with ability to be a
quality base stealer; average quickness in hands with average fielding actions;
average range at second base; defensive tools likely too limited to overexpose
at shortstop.

tool. Very good student, verbal commitment to Florida State.
Madrigal and Poland look good to me.
ReplyDeleteMadrigal's broken wrist probably cost him a top 5 pick
ReplyDeleteI would pass on him at #6... frankly, Cecchini is beginning to prove out just as good as picking Madrigal.
BTW... did you notice Ceech's snarky comment on Twitter yesterday?
What was the comment?
DeleteMack, think that Madrigal can slip to the 2nd round?
ReplyDeleteWhatever Cecchini said, performance = successful career. And we want you to succeed, Gavin. Time for a breakout year.
Lets thank God TC isn't at the helm anymore or GC would be buried on the bench in Vegas. Could we finally get a break with a first round pick other than Conforto and have him succeed (hey Brandon pay attention this is your shot too)...stay tuned and thanks Mickey for noticing.
ReplyDeleteGary, it is a new day
ReplyDeleteSo far, pitching is excellent - that is the 2018 key
Eddie -
ReplyDeleteComment on his Twitter account was: "Back then they didn’t want me, now I’m hot they all on me"
Uncalled for
Tom -
ReplyDeleteNo I don't think so.
Madrigal is a legit first rounder and he'd never get past that... unless the broken write becomes more than a 4-6 week problem and he's lost for the season.
