PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 6, 2018) – The Bradenton Marauders scored four runs in the fourth inning and defeated the St. Lucie Mets 7-3 on Friday at First Data Field.
Marauders catcher Arden Pabst went 4 for 4 with two RBI and reached base all five times he came to the plate.
The game was scoreless through three innings. The Marauders broke through with four runs in the fourth against Josh Prevost. Hunter Owen, Lucas Tancas, Tyler Gaffney and Pabst all registered RBI hits in the frame.
Trailing 5-0 with two outs and the bases empty in the fifth, the Mets put together a three-run rally. Gene Cone and Jacob Zanon roped back-to-back RBI doubles to cut the deficit to 5-3. However, reliever Scooter Hightower came on to strikeout Andres Gimenez to end the threat.
The Marauders tacked on runs in the sixth and ninth to pull away.
Hightower earned the win. Ronny Agustin pitched the final two innings for the save.
Prevost, who was pitching for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2016, suffered the loss. He allowed five runs and nine hits in five innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.
Anthony Dimino led the Mets at the plate. He went 2 for 3 with a walk, run and two stolen bases.
The Mets (1-1) and Marauders (1-1) shift their series to Bradenton for the weekend. First pitch on Saturday from LECOM Park is set for 6:30 p.m.
Everyone talks about Nido and Mazeika, but C Anthony Dimino can really hit and run. Watch him.
