Daytona 6 - St. Lucie 1

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 13, 2018) – The Daytona Tortugas bashed 15 hits and beat the St. Lucie Mets 6-1 on Wednesday at First Data Field.

New York Mets infielder Wilmer Flores made his second rehab appearance in as many days. He went 2 for 3 with a RBI single and played seven innings at first base. Flores is now 3 for 6 in his rehab assignment.

Mets starting pitcher Josh Prevost, who threw a complete game one-hit shutout in his last outing, wasn’t as effective pitching on short rest this time around. He allowed 12 hits and six runs, four earned, in 4.2 innings.

Daytona took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on RBI singles from Taylor Trammell and T.J. Friedl. Both runs were unearned after a one out error was committed at third base.

The Tortugas broke the game open with four runs on seven hits against Prevost in the fifth inning. The first five batters, including Trammell and Friedl, all singled. Jose Siri capped the inning with a RBI hit.

The Mets scored their only run in the sixth when Flores lined a hit to the outfield to bring in Ian Strom.

Daytona starter Tejay Antone limited the Met to the one run on three hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out five.

Three Mets relievers – Stephen Nogosek, Matt Pobereyko and Joe Zanghi – shut out the Tortugas over the final 4.1 innings.

Brantley Bell went 4 for 5 with four singles for the Tortugas. Trammell, Friedl, Siri and Michael Beltre had two hits apiece.

Dan Rizzie doubled for St. Lucie

The Mets (26-36) and the Tortugas (35-28) conclude their series at First Data Field on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
