The Reyes de Plata defeated the Baby Cakes, 11-10, in the opener of the three-game series and seven-game homestand before a crowd of 3,223 at Cashman Field.
Las Vegas built a 10-1 lead and scored a season-high 8 runs in the third inning and held off a late rally by New Orleans.
Right-hander Chris Flexen recorded the victory. He pitched 5 1. Innings and allowed 10 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), walked 1 and struck out 7 on 100 pitches (65 strikes).
Five L.V. players recorded multiple-hit games: center fielder Kevin Kaczmarski was 3-for-5, double, triple, run scored; second baseman Christian Colon was 3-for-4, walk, double, RBI, three stolen bases, two runs scored and third baseman Cody Asche was 2-for-5, double, HR, 3 RBI.
New Orleans right fielder Isaac Galloway was 3-for-5, double, two-run homer, two runs scored.
Another substandard outing for Flexen.
