Micky Jannis & David Roseboom Derail Curve Offense in Two-Hitter

Press Release -

ALTOONA, PA – Binghamton starter Mickey Jannis baffled the Altoona Curve over a season best 7-1/3 innings to lead the Rumble Ponies to a 5-0 victory on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Jannis teamed up with reliever David Roseboom for the 31sttwo-hitter in franchise history. Joey Terdoslavich compiled a three-hit game and the Rumble Ponies offense drove in all five runs with two outs in Binghamton’s sixth shutout win of the season.

Jannis set the tone on an inning-to-inning basis during his stellar start by retiring the first two hitters he faced in each of his first six frames. After surrendering a two-out single in the first and hitting a batter with two outs in the second, the knuckleballer set down 14 of the next 15 Curve hitters he faced, rolling into the seventh inning. Altoona put two aboard with one out in the seventh, but Jannis coaxed a pair of fly outs to end the threat.

Jannis matched his strong night on the mound with a fine performance at the plate. With two outs and two aboard in the fifth, the Nevada native cracked the scoreboard by poking a run-scoring single to right, his first RBI this season. Levi Michael followed by threading an RBI single up the middle.

Terdoslavich served as a sparkplug to extend Binghamton’s lead. The Rumble Ponies first baseman led off the sixth with a single and trotted home on a two-out single to left by Josh Allen. Terdoslavich struck again in the eighth, opening the inning with a double. Will Toffey brought him home with another two-out single, giving Binghamton a four-run lead. Terdoslavich capped his night with a two-out RBI single in the ninth.

Jannis concluded his time on the mound with a strikeout to start the eighth inning before handing off to the bullpen. Roseboom fanned both hitters he faced to close the inning before racking up two more strikeouts in the ninth.

Jannis (7-5) struck out six and issued two walks while enjoying his longest outing of the season. The victory was the 18th in Jannis’ Binghamton career, putting him tied for 9th all-time in franchise history.
