The Mets have traded 3 promising minor leaguers - OF Ross Adolf, C Scott Manea, and IF Luis Santana, to the Astros for power hitting 3B J D Davis, and marginal IF Cody Bohanek.
I hope J D, who has struggled in the bigs but shown real power in the minors, is legit. If not...

Kind words for our arrivals.
ReplyDeleteSad thoughts regarding the departed.
Don’t know what to think about this trade
ReplyDeleteBVW obviously cares more about level B veterans than blue or red prospects.
ReplyDeleteSeems his target is to win NOW but not pay the piper for guys like ... well, you know the 2 I am talking about.
And... with this move... Dom Smith can kiss a 25 man job come opening day
I hope adding Santana does not bite us in the butt in the future.
ReplyDeleteTrading Luis will sting
ReplyDeleteSo is it safe to say Dom, Kevin Plewecki, Lagares & Vargas might be Out the door ?
ReplyDeleteYes on Plawecki - you are a prophet!!
DeleteDo you trust me with your life savings ?
DeleteOne more thing....BVW is building up Syracuse...the home team at times looked like a MASH unit...the closer we get to spring training the price will be dropping on the remaining free agents...I see more activity coming.
ReplyDeleteMets traded Kevin P to the Indians for Walker Lockett
ReplyDeleteGot two bags of beans for Plawecki.
DeleteSeattle
ReplyDeleteSo... in your opinion... do we now have AAA minor league depth?
Davis had 17 HRs/81 RBI in only 85 AAA games in '18. Close to an RBI per game!Hopefully he'll do bett on the ML level this year than he did last year 🤞
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Bill. Davis hit big in AAA last year. Not just power...mid .340s, not bad on Ks.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope this is a year of breakthru for him in bigs.
One thing that is consistent with the Mets every time someone new takes over. The stupidity persists. And the lies from the Wilpons.
ReplyDeleteOh we have money to spend but are trading the farm away for other teams failed prospects. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Now they trade for someone to block McNeil......
Viper, maybe J D hits...if not, BAD trades.
ReplyDeleteWe just traded plawecki to the Indians for pitcher Walter Lockett??
ReplyDeleteWe got to keep a locket of Plawecki's hair, so it was quite a deal.
Deletei dont like the santana part of the trade. Just seemed unnecessary. And i dont think the plawecki one is a good trade. I did like the broxton trade, because he's legares replacement after this year. They seem to be loading up on AAAA guys as depth but giving up future assets for current ones. I would have traded TDA as Plawecki is cheaper and is better suited for a back up role.
ReplyDeleteTDA is a much better hitter than Plawecki...when healthy.
DeleteThis is what happens when a team is "all in" to win now, other than the fact that they absolutely refuse to spend any money to do so. They sell off any asset that isn't going to help them either this year or next, for whatever marginal present day value they can get. I think that they'd really like to trade Frazier now, and let McNeil and the new kid battle it out for 3B. That would free up a few shekels to spend elsewhere, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteSo, these moves provide some needed upper level depth, maybe at too high a cost, but time will tell. I can accept that. What they don't accomplish is closing the win gap on the NL East competitors, the ones that finished ahead of them last year and continue to be better. Let's see how "aggreesive" Brodie remains when the checkbook is the only way to upgrade the major league projected wins.
ReplyDelete1st year in Syracuse, the organization may be looking to create a more competitive team considering how bare the Mets allowed their upper minors to become
ReplyDeleteJD Davis may surprise the Mets. Maybe he is the Jeff McNeil of 2019. But too much "I hope" is usually not a formula for success.
