EDWIN DÍAZ RANKED FOURTH ON MLB NETWORK’S COUNTDOWN
TOP 10 RELIEF PITCHERS RIGHT NOW!
February 10, 2019 – New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Díaz was ranked fourth on MLB Network’s annual Top 10 Relief Pitchers Right Now! program last night. Díaz, who makes his debut on the countdown, finished one spot ahead of the Oakland Athletics’ Blake Treinen and one spot behind the Milwaukee Brewers’ Josh Hader. In addition to Díaz, the Mets’ Jacob deGrom ranked third on Top 10 Starting Pitchers Right Now! on Feb. 2, while Michael Conforto ranked eighth on Top 10 Left Fielders Right Now! on Jan. 26, Brandon Nimmo ranked sixth on Top 10 Right Fielders Right Now! and Wilson Ramos ranked eighth on Top 10 Catchers Right Now! on Jan. 19, and Jed Lowrie ranked second and Robinson Canó ranked fourth on Top 10 Second Basemen Right Now! on Jan. 12.
Hosted by MLB Network’s Brian Kenny alongside MLB Network analysts, each Top 10 Right Now! ranking considered player performance over the last two seasons, offensive and defensive metrics, both advanced Statcast data and traditional numbers, and expert analysis by the MLB Network research team.
On last night’s countdown, MLB Network analyst and 18-year relief pitcher Dan Plesac said of Díaz, “He has electric stuff. I think what helps him at times [is] he’s effectively wild, a little erratic with his fastball command. I think his breaking ball, that hard slider, is his best go-to pitch. When he gets in trouble, he’ll go to that. Effectively wild, good fastball, a lot of late movement. He throws up in the zone, he has good sinking action. At times that fastball of his has a mind of its own, but his breaking ball is dynamite and he’s going to be one of the many reasons why I think the Mets are gonna be a team to reckon with in 2019.”

Liked your blog today regarding Daniel Murphy.

Correct me if I am wrong here. Didn't the Mets get Walker to play second after dissing Murphy? And didn't Walker even cost more than Daniel was asking for?

    Rah Roe.

  4. Forget the recent past.

The past cannot be changed, just rewritten anyway a writer or movie maker so desires and wants to.

I like the 2019 NY Mets team, a lot. I think it has legs and will be very surprised if it does not make the playoffs.

This could be the season we all have been waiting for, as NY Mets fans. I will enjoy it all.

  5. Even more than Yoenis Cespedes getting back...

I want to see Tim Tebow make it up to the parent club in 2019. Saw him on a television show today. His arms are like legs, huge. He looks ready for the challenge.

Excellent and smooth batting mechanics he has

    Big Tebow fan here.
