Too bad it isn't offered with transportation options from El Paso.
ReplyDeleteNot likely I could do a whole weekend, Mack, but would you like me to post it on facebook? Some Mets fan sites have lots of members - they might live the idea.
ReplyDeleteLast year, the Mets offered a similar package to Pitt, much more expensive, that included tickets and plane fare. I went on the trip and LOVED it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great deal, and though I'm not interested in a "rerun" for myself, I highly recommend it to all Mets fans who have the time and can afford this very reasonable price.

ReplyDeleteI will post it there
Tom -
ReplyDeleteMoved your post to noon
The Pittsburgh post was supposed to be scheduled at noon today but I guess I screwed it up
Sorry

ReplyDeleteMack:
ReplyDeleteI liked pitcher Dillon Gee also. He had a few really good seasons here. I don't recall any injuries beyond maybe the arm blood clot and a groin pull. I honestly think that what "may have" happened was that the Mets had all these really hard throwing fastball starters hitting the scene in NY all at one time. Dillon was more of a smart finesse guy, but his fastball was decent I thought too. But maybe the Mets bras fell in love with the 95+ mph fastball pitchers instead, thus limiting Dillon's appeal. Personally speaking, the great ball clubs have both, the fastball guys and the smart finesse guys.
Was wondering what you felt happened and then too if in contact with Dillon what really happened. I know Terry sent him to the pen at one point, but anything else beyond that I really do not recall.
Mets fans really liked Dillon Gee. We all wish him the best.
BTW: His numbers of recent were pretty solid.
On Curtis Granderson
ReplyDeleteLike you said today in your blog, Curtis would truly make a terrific fifth outfielder. He is ageless and he not only gives 100% on the field, he gives his all helping with the charities. To me, he is absolutely a total class act.
Baseball fans are a little fickle though.
They expect their favorite star player on their team to never age or slow down, even just a little bit. It's like that in every sport really.
Remember the Yankee fans with Derek Jeter that one season when he struggled? Many NYY fans wanted Captain Jetes gone or sent to Siberia or something. Then the following season the Captain returned to form and was way over a .300 BA again.
Plus, the emphasis on the NYM right now (The Brodie Bunch) is retooling the team and the outfield is actually quite full, if not overly full. Otherwise, Grandyman would have been perfect again here in the five slot.
I hope Curtis Granderson contemplates managing when he is done playing. He'd be excellent. A total class act human being!
Harper and Machado
ReplyDeleteAnybody have any ideas or insight as to where they might go?
I am thinking...
Manny Machado - White Sox
Reasoning: He has stated that he misses the AL and knows the pitchers there better. Makes some sense.
Bryce Harper - Phillies
Reasoning: I think that the Phillies would be interested in signing him, maybe not for the ten years but something suitable for Bryce perhaps. I think within MLB there could be an image issue there with Bryce. Not certain. Just a gut thing.
The 2019 NY Mets
ReplyDeleteI am thinking right now, maybe 88 victories or so. Around that. But it's a long haul from now until then and anything good or bad can and will happen.
What are the leading keys deciding this?
1. The top three Mets starters have to stay healthy, it's that obvious. No major injuries there in otherwords.
2. The new veteran leadership (Cano, Ramos, Lowrie) has to do the same. Especially Ramos behind the dish because there is a fall-off there to the backup.
3. The bullpen (being revamped) has to become "swiss watch like." Hand in glove. Gear to gear. Everyone excepting their role in it.
4. No broken feet in the outfield.
5. Homerun barrage, manufactured runs like never before. Need I say here...base stealing. OMG!
Stuff like that. Smart, effective baseball.
