Bradenton 4 - St. Lucie 2

BRADENTON, Fla. (April 6, 2019) – The Bradenton Marauders beat the St. Lucie Mets 4-2 on Saturday at LECOM Park.

The Marauders were propelled to victory by their major league rehabbing catcher Elias Diaz. Diaz went 2 for 2 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored. He reached base safely four times.

Diaz laced a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie. He previously scored to tie the game in the third inning after starting a rally with a two-out double.

Mets starter Tony Dibrell pitched well in his Florida State League debut. He logged four innings and allowed two runs while striking out six.

Briam Campusano suffered the loss after giving up two runs in 2.2 innings. Marcel Renteria pitched 1.1 innings of perfect relief in his season debut.

Quinn Brodey went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Jeremy Vasquez was 1 for 3 with a walk and a RBI.

Hansel Moreno went 1 for 4 with a run, walk and two stolen bases.

Bradenton reliever Hunter Stratton picked up the win by pitching 3.2 scoreless innings. Joel Cesar was perfect in a six-out save attempt.

The Mets fell behind 1-0 but rallied to take their first lead of the season in the third inning. Vasquez pushed home a run with a bases loaded walk. Brodey followed with a single to make it 2-1. However, Bradenton starter Oddy Nunez snuffed out the rally by inducing an inning-ending double play.

The Mets (0-3) and Marauders (3-0) conclude their series on Sunday at LECOM Park. First pitch is 1 p.m.
