Profile on Mets Pick:
Matthew Thompson is a 2019
RHP/SS with a 6-3 184 lb. frame from Cypress, TX who attends Cypress Ranch HS.
Slender young athletic build, long arms, lots of physical projection. Has
simplified his mechanics in the last year, delivery is easy and directional,
deep arm action and fluid and fast coming through, high 3/4's arm slot.
Fastball topped out at 92 mph, has been up to 96 mph in the past, good angle to
his fastball but mostly straight. Curveball is his best pitch, very tight spin with
good power and depth, knee buckler at times for right handed hitters, throws
strikes with his curveball. High ceiling young arm who should keep improving.
Good student, verbal commitment to Texas A&M. Selected to play in the 2018
Perfect Game All-American Classic.
Good stuff for a HS kid.
ReplyDeleteWitt Jr...another son of a former major leaguer...amazing how many.
it's all about DNA, baby!
ReplyDeleteNo thank you on a straight fastball. Had enough of those over the years, from Parnell to Rhame and everyone in between.
