NO HITS! SHADES OF CHRIS DAVIS!
First of all, the agony - Binghamton was NO HIT! STINKS!
Pause, and let that HIT you for a minute. OK, let's proceed.
The Bingo pitchers allowed only 2 runs, and fanned 13, but yesterday's game was no hit with Binghamton fans.
Elsewhere, Syracuse rallied for an 8-7 win. Yesterday's topic of conversation on this site, Adeiny Hechavarria, went 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs and is hitting .348. Rajai Davis (.240) had 2 hits and a walk, and seems to be heating up. The weather was great - which the hitters must love.
In another high scoring nail biter, St Lucie won 10-9.
Blake Tiberi had 3 hits and 3 runs, Carlos Cortes had a single, triple and homer, and delightfully, former 3rd round pick Quinn Brodey is HITTING this season, with 4 hits and is hitting .355 through 20 games after hitting just .224 last year.
Finally, Columbia lost 5-3, but although Wunderkind Simeon Woods Richardson allowed 3 unearned runs in 3 IP, he amazingly fanned 7.
In 14.2 innings, in point of fact, he has fanned 22 and walked no one. K to walk ratio? Infinity, folks - and he is just 18.
Another big, young hard thrower, RHP Bryce Hutchinson, started the season with 2 rough outings, but in his last 8.2 IP, (1-0, 3.21 ERA): 3 IP, H, 2 R (ER), BB, 5 Ks, 1 earned run and 4 hits. Clearly another dude to watch closely.
That's my take, folks.
Tom -
ReplyDeleteThe Ryley Gilliam promotion yesterday could be the beginning of promotions within the affiliates.
Yeah, I know it is early, but nothing has moved faster than Ry, who pitched Brooklyn last year and now, in April, is in AA ball.
Other possible promotions to consider soon:
Bing to Cuse - RPs Joseph Zanghi and Stephen Villines, CF Braxton Lee, SP Anthony Kay
Lucy to Bing - 2B Blake Tiberi, OF Quinn Brodey, RP Briam Campusano, SP Tony Dibell
Col to Lucy - SS Ronny Mauricio, RP Andrew Mitchell
