Good

Many mock
drafts are done before the junior season in college and the senior season in
high school even start. It’s not until we get closer to the draft that some of
this guys we haven’t heard about yet, rise to the surface.
Remember
when you watch day one of the draft and a couple of names are called out that
you look around and mutter WTF?
Well,
here are some that may fit that bill:
San-Jacinto North (TX) HS RHP Jackson Rutledge –
BA - Now armed with four distinct pitches,
Rutledge was ready to get back on the mound. But his time at Arkansas was over.
After his injury, he wanted to be more cautious and stay healthy. He decided
going to San Jacinto (Texas) JC was the right route for 2019…
Rutledge
entered this season ranked No. 95 on the BA preseason draft list. Scouts knew
who he was out of high school, knew he had a big arm with a big frame to back
it up. But his lack of much college track record was a concern. His control,
after walking more than six batters per nine innings in his brief stint with
Arkansas, was a concern. His injury history was another concern.
Campbell University RHP Seth Thompson – Go Camels - Louisburg College: Pitched and played
infield for two seasons at LC under head coach Blake Herring… Made five
pitching appearances as a sophomore, striking out 11 batters and allowing no
walks over 6.0 innings… Did not take the mound his freshman season… Batted .254
for his junior college career with nine home runs, 20 doubles and 42 hits…

St. Thomas HS RHP Josh
Wolf – PG - Josh
Wolf is a 2019 RHP/3B/OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Bellaire, TX who attends
St. Thomas HS. Young and slender build, lots of room to get stronger. Side step
delivery with a low leg raise, deliberate pace with some acceleration to
release, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 92 mph, mostly straight.
Curveball is his best pitch, has power and a sharp biting break. Threw strikes
with both pitches and had an idea how to pitch. Lots of potential.
LHSP John Doxakis –
TAMU – 2019 (JUNIOR): Has started ten games for the Aggies… named Southeastern
Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Fordham (2/15),
throwing seven shutout innings, allowing one hit while fanning 12… earned his
second win of the season against UIC (2/22), allowing one unearned run on three
hits while fanning eight and walking two in 6.0 frames… named NCBWA Pitcher of
the Month (Feb.) for going 3-0, throwing 21.0 innings allowing two runs, one
earned, on eight hits while fanning 32... had another huge outing in win
against #18 Baylor (3/1), throwing eight frames allowing one run on four hits
while fanning 12... named to the Shriners Hospitals For Children Classic
All-Tournament Team, for his performance against Baylor... earned a win,
throwing 8.0 shutout innings scattering seven hits and two walks while fanning
six in the series opener against Auburn (4/12).

NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 26) and Big Ten Conference Pitcher of
the Week (Feb. 25) after pitching a complete-game shutout at The Citadel, facing
the minimum number of batters and striking out a career-high 13 on only 88
pitches (Feb. 22)
• Named
Big Ten Conference Pitcher of the Week (March 5) after eight scoreless innings
with 12 strikeouts at Cal State Northridge (March 1)
• Threw
six innings of scoreless ball, striking out nine against Binghamton (Feb. 15)
