Mack - 2019 Mets Transactions

Sunday. May 5

A-Columbia activated P Colin Holderman from the 10-day IL, prior to Sunday’s game in which he pitched two earned runs in his 3.0-IP start (3.44).

Holderman was a 9th round 2016 draft pick out of the Heartland C.C. in Illinois (8-1, 1.57, 0.97). The Mets first made him a reliever, but he as now returned to being a starter.

6-5, RH, 23-year old. Needs to pick it up.

      Kudos –

Binghamton RP Adonis Uceta for tossing 0.2 more scoreless
innings and lowering his seasonal ERA to 1.80

Binghamton RF Kevin Kaczmarski for his grand slam in the 6th inning of their doubleheader nightcap.

Columbia SP Colin Holderman (1.80) and RP Alec Kisena (1.59) combine for a win over Lexington

Monday, May 6th -

The Mets acquired RP Wilmer Font from Tampa Bay for either casn of a PTBNL.

The 6-4 righty was signed by Texas in 2006, out of Venezuela. He has pitched in five major league seasons (6.51) and was 5.79 in 10 outings so far this year for the Rays.

Font has pitched very well when he has started so I guess that he will be called upon to fill in for one of the spot losses for either Stephen Matz of Jason Vargas.

It’s not raining anymore. It’s pouring.

The Mets send P Jason Vargas to the 10-day IL

The Mets option P Tim Peterson down to AAA-Syracuse.

The Mets, once again, promote SP Corey Oswalt.

The Mets activate P Justin Wilson from the 10-day DL. After Monday’s game has a 4.82-ERA and a 1.39-WHIP.

Sort of a mini-shakeup to stir the troops down in A-Columbia:

- C Carlos Sanchez, OF Anthony Dirocie and OF Jose Medina transferred to Brooklyn. Dirocie showed promise last season for K-Port/Brooklyn (.274) but he is off to a horrible start this year for the Fireflies (66-AB, .182). The same for Medina who I had last year as a ‘blue’ prospect (Brooklyn, .271). This year in Columbia… 65-AB, .185

- OF Bradley Marquez placed on Columbia’s restricted list. My guess is this the last time we will see the on again, off again baseball/football prospect. He’s 26 now and hitting .161 after not playing since 2013. Come on, Bradley. Hang it up and give your 25-man slot over to a young man that might help us some day.

- C Juan Uriarte, OF Yoel Romero and OF Chandler Avant transferred to Columbia from Brooklyn

- OF Gerson Molina transferred to Columbia from DSL Mets. Molina is a very interesting move. He’s a 23-year old Cuban that played for the Ciego de Ávila baseball team.

All eight are bats.

     Kudos –

SP Prospect Thomas Szapucki continued his slow road back from TJS surgery, pitching two scoreless innings for A-Columbia. Stat line: 2-IP, H, 0-R, 0-BB, 4-K, 32 pitches, 23 strikes, 1.69

A-Columbia OF Gerson Molina goes 2-4, with a double and 3-RBIs in his stateside debut on Monday

  1. Holderman missed 2018 - think it was Tommy John. Time to make up for lost time.

Gerson Molina - we get rid of Gerson Bautista and Marcos Molina and now have Gerson Molina - may he have more success than those two combined.

  2. Hector Santiago no hitter thru 4 innings today so far for Syracuse

  3. No hitter over in 5th. Lowrie 0 for 3 with 2 Ks so far. Now 3 for 22. Uh oh!

Tebow down to .122. I would demote him and promote Kaczmarski.

  4. Maybe Tim Tebow needs to call Tom Brady, not for QB tips but to learn how to be involved with a supermodel and not let it impact his game.

  5. Steven Villines pitched two scoreless for Syracuse last night. His ERA for the year is still 0.00.

  6. John, Villines has been highly effective his entire minor league career - edging closer and closer.
