The Mets activated P Wilmer Font.
The Mets once again optioned Corey Oswalt back to AAA-Syracuse. Yawn.
P Chris Mazza was
activated from the AA-Binghamton IL and elevated to AAA-Syracuse. He started on
Wednesday night, giving up 3-ER in 5-IP (4.91).
PC - Ed Delany |
P Stephen Villines was promoted from AA-Binghamton to AAA-Syracuse. He immediately entered that night’s game and pitched two scoreless innings, maintaining his seasonal 0.00 ERA. Mark my word… this guy will be in Queens before the season ends.
P Mickey Jannis was sent back to AA-Binghamton after his
disastrous start earlier this week.

A+ St. Lucie DH/IF Luis Carpio had 2 hits, raising his 2019 bating
average to .305. He had 2 more hits in the nightcap, raising the BA to .323.
P Kyle
Wilson (3.95) and Yeizo Campos (1.65) for
a 7-inning shutout.
An outstanding (another!) start
from P Anthony Kay – 7-IP, 1-ER, 4-K, 1.47. My
guess is he will be in Syracuse come June.
P Stephen
Nogosek finishes the game out with two scoreless innings, lowering his
ERA to 0.64. He needs to work on his 9 walks in 14-IP, but this is another
reliever I’m elevating to ‘red status’.
AAA-Syracuse CF Carlos Gomez pounded out three more hits and raised
his seasonal BA to .282. I don’t have any idea what this guy is doing in the
minors.

AAA-Syracuse SP Hector Santiago (3.75) gave up only one run in six innings tossed in their victory over Louisville. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't the next spot starter called to Queens someday.
AA-Binghamton SP Harol Gonzalez (3-0, 2.88) and Ryder Ryan combined for a NO HITTER against Harrisburg. Harol has come a long way since his 1-16, 4.80 last year for a combined three teams.
A+ St. Lucie 2B Luis Carpio continued his hitting show this week, going 2-4 and raising his BA to .333 in the Mets victory over Jupiter. His teammate, 3B Blake Tiberi, went 3-4 and raised his bA to .283.
A-Columbia CF Gerson Molina continued his torrid pace in the team's lost to Charleston. Molina went 2-3, raising his seasonal BA to .571.

Gomez better replace Broxton immediately. The Mets top 4 starters could hit better than Broxton if they played a year as hitters.
ReplyDeleteCarpio is not the glamorous prospect, but he is still real young and competent.
Villines will be an interesting promotion to Queens - he sure is effective in the minors.
Hopefully, Kay will be Matz ++.
Imagine Harol going 1-16 with a 4.80 ERA - only in a punchless organization could 4.80 turn into 1-16.
ReplyDeleteHarol last year 1-16, 4.80
ReplyDeleteJake Buchanan in AAA: 11-9, 5.17 last year.
It really matters who you pitch for.
Villines to Queens. Your lips to God's ears.
