Mack - Transactions and Kudos

Thursday, May 16th

Low-A Brooklyn assign P Luc Rennie to A+ St. Lucie.
Didn’t I just… ya know, something is telling me that this guy never got on an airplane to fly to ‘da city’. Paper move.

A+ St. Lucie place P Yeizo Campos on the 7-day IL.
Campos has pitched in 10 games so far this season, at a 1.47-ERA clip. Hope this is a temporary setback.

P Alan Winans (2-G, 6.00) was reassigned to Low-A Brooklyn, from A-Columbia.

OF Zach Rheams (.234) was assigned to Low-A Brooklyn, from A-Columbia.

P Billy Oxford (10-G, 5.68) was assigned to Low-A Brooklyn, from Columbia.

Seems like a little bit of blood letting going on in Live PD’s favorite town.

            Kudos –

A+ St. Lucie 2B Luis Carpio continued his torrid pace, going 2-4 (in the first game of a doubleheader) and raising his season BA to .333. Carpio is now the team leader with a 40+ lead in BA over his closest teammate, Blake Tiberi (.281). He also hit .361 in his last 10 games played. If he keeps hitting like this expect a trip to Binghamton by the all-star break, regardless of who is playing there.

A+ St. Lucie SP, Tommy Wilson, put up another sold stat line: 5-IP, 1-ER, 6-K, 2.39. The 22-year old is starting to turn some heads this season. He’s now given up only one earned run in the last 18 innings he has pitched.

AAA-Syracuse, RF Carlos Gomez, hit a 3-run homer before being pulled from the lineup and being given an airplane ticket to meet the parent club.

AA-Binghamton Patrick Mazeika (back at catching) continued his hot bat, slamming his 4th home run in five games.

A-Columbia 3B prospect, Mark Vientos, went 2-5, plus delivering his 3rd home run this season.

A-Columbia ‘red’ prospect SP, Thomas Szapucki, only went one inning again (3-K, 1-ER, 2.16). This is not progress. Reports continue to be hush hush but it has become quite obvious that we have to write off 2019 to another lost year for Thomas.

A-Columbia RP, Andrew Mitchell keeps producing: 1.1-IP, 0-R, 4-K, 0-BB, 0.98.

The Mets placed OF Michael Conforto on the 7-day concussion IL they then recalled OF Carlos Gomez from AAA-Syracuse. They also DFA’s OF Keon Broxton and recalled P Paul Sewald.

The first positive here is we will get a good look see at Gomez. The Broxton move had to be done. Sure, the Mets were embarrassed that they traded three minor leaguers but none of the were Justin Dunn or Mike Piazza.

I expect Gomez to remain when both Jeff McNeil and Conforto return. This is, IMO, a solid ++ OF4 move.
Sewald hasn’t pitched badly this year either… 3-apps for Mets (3.60), 12-apps for Cuse (2.50).

      Kudos –

  1. Thanks for the kudos to Joe Zanghi. Others are now on to Viilines but not many mentions of Zanghi who has also been good.

  2. Happy, happy, happy to see Uriarte start hitting. Carpio doing well for age 21.
