FLUSHING, N.Y., May 6, 2019 – The New York Mets announced today that the club has acquired RHP Wilmer Font from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Font will join the team in San Diego tomorrow when a corresponding 25-man roster move will be made.

The 6-4, 265-pounder was 2-3 with a 5.93 ERA (29 earned runs/44.0 innings) in 19 games, five starts with 36 strikeouts with the Dodgers, Athletics and Rays in 2018. Font had a 1.71 ERA (four earned runs/21.0 innings) in five starts last year.
He is 3-3 with a 6.51 ERA (47 earned runs/65.0 innings) in 37 career major league games, five starts with the Rangers, Dodgers, Athletics and Rays.
