Have they not learned from their Gavin Cecchini type mistakes? Singles hitters need to be truly elite (think Tony Gwynn/Rod Carew) to make it.
ReplyDeleteReese, I think this is a case of saving $$ for the third round super-selection. That said, I'd prefer power bats, period, when drafting hitters.
ReplyDeleteI think if you do the numbers, the run on senior college players through the 10th round STILL hasn't saves enough money for the amount they are going to offer the high school kids they drafted earlier.
ReplyDeleteIt's all math.
Nah, the math works, otherwise they wouldn't have done it. But they will take some expensive preps that dropped today just to be sure that they can spend the money they've saved
DeleteThey better make the math work. They have to.
ReplyDeleteNothing else is working.
Guys- remember that only the picks from 1-10 saved money can go towards money for Allan. Picks 11 and on only save money for the Wilpons, it doesnt give them money that can be used for other picks. See my post tomorrow for more info.
