Jeremy
was a 4-year senior (Trinity Univ.-TX) drafted in the 31st round of
the 2016 draft. He hit .290 (183-AB) for K-Port but then hurt his back during
the following season for the Cyclones, hit only .241, in 83 at-bats there, and
was cut.
Associated
Press wrote about it:
Jeremy
Wolf loved being a professional baseball player. The New York Mets were his
favorite team as a child, and it was a dream fulfilled when they selected him
in the 31st round in 2016.
The
reality was something else. From first pitch to the final out was a blast, but
the time between games was filled with anxiety. His meager signing bonus wasn’t
delivered until after his first season ended. In the meantime, he needed money
for rent, cleats, bats, car payments, food and more — an impossible amount to
cover on his $1,100 per month salary. Then he hurt his back, was cut 16 months
after he signed, and left baseball with a couple thousand dollars in credit
card debt.
I asked Jeremy if the reason he was moving to
Israel was because I follow him on Facebook… he said ‘yes!’. LOL
Please
wish Jeremy well. All he ever wanted to be was a Mets ballplayer. He earned his
keep with Kingsport but had to shut it down the following year due to injuries
developed while he was playing for this heartless organization. They cut him and
cast him aside.

I
hope he can find peace and success in the land of his ancestors.

St. Lucie SP, Thomas Szapucki: 3.1-IP, ER, 3-K,
2.45
Szapucki
continues the long run back and his pitch count this start hit 63. Technically,
this going to be another lost here for him after sitting out the entire 2018
season recovering from TJS.
The
good news is we signed the now 23-year old straight out of high school (Dwyer –
Florida).
DSL-2
RF/CF, Omar De Los Santos: 2-4, .299
Low-A
Brooklyn 1B/3B, Wilmer Reyes: 3-4, R, RBI, .380
A
lot of versatility showed by someone that is listed as a second baseman.
This
is the 4th pro season for the 21/yr. old, who will most probably
finish the season in South Carolina.
A-Columbia LF, Wagner Lagrange: 3-4, R, RBI, .283
I’ve
always been a big fan of this blue chip, but
this the 4th pro season for this 23/yr. old.
He
hit .282 last year for Brooklyn and .335 for K-Port in 2017. Not a power guy,
but the boy can hit.
He
needs to step it up and earn a promotion this season to St. Lucie. Only Quinn
Brody in Binghamton currently has earned a blue star
while playing in the outfield for a full season team.

Looks like we need to take quick
look at this kid…
Also
plays third, but, so far, the Mets have used him only on first… signed of the
Grand Bahamas (home to Champ Stuart)… said in an
interview on signing day that Mets signed him to a multiple year deal (???)…
20/yrs. old, turning 21 in December…

- DSL-2 SP, Erickson Ortega: 3.2-IP, 0-R, 3-K, 1.25
This
is Ortega’s 7th game for the DSL-2 team, five of which he started.
He won’t be playing it this league for much longer if he keeps these numbers
up.
- DSL-1 3B, Luis Castillo: 2-4 2-R 2-RBI, .299
- GCL RP, Brailin
Gonzalez: 3-IP, 0-R, 3-K, 2.25
- Rookie-Kingsport RP, Reyson Santos: 1-IP, 0-R, K, SV-4, 1.80
- A Columbia AP, Simeon Woods-Richardson: 5-IP, 1-ER, 6-K
Like David Peterson, SWR seems to
getting his game on lately.
The 18-year old has 7 quality
starts in a row now, producing only 8-ER in 32.2-IP.
He also now has 18 starts at this
level but the Mets might yet him finish the year at this level and get his
confidence in order.
- A+ St. Lucie 1B, Jeremy Vasquez: 3-5, 4-RBI
- AA Binghamton SP, David Peterson: 5.2-IP, 1-ER, 5-K, 4.18
That’s a 3.83-ERA in the past 10
games. Is that enough?

Syracuse RP, Stephen Nogosek: 1-IP, 0-R, 0.00
The difference between a 160 bowler and a 200 bowler is precision and execution. Is David Peterson a 160 bowler?
ReplyDeleteSorry Jeremy Wolf had to be squeezed so much on finances...an extra $10,000 per season would really help. MLB Players like Robbie Cano should set up a GoFundMe - fans could match them dollar for dollar - since the owners are too cheap to do it.
Szapucki has another 8 or so starts..45 more innings would be a great step.
Greg Guerrero had 3 hits, including a HR, yesterday. Maybe he still is a prospect.
ReplyDeleteRays still interested in Zachary Wheeler.
ReplyDeleteTB Rays: Wheeler, Frasier, D. Smith
NYM: J. Beeks, B. Honeywell, Colin Poche, and Nick Solak
Rays would challenge big dogs with Snell, Morton, and Wheeler. Could use another 1B and 3B.
